Nightmare and Passive Nightmare

The passive Nightmare, stunned by the change of scenery, timidly looked around. The place he had ended up in exuded some kind of ominous power; the air was saturated with a sense of hopelessness. He was afraid, but curiosity overcame him. Suddenly, from the shadows, he himself emerged – Nightmare, as he would become in the future. Four tentacles writhed ominously behind his back, and his single blue eye burned with a piercing gaze.

The future Nightmare looked down at his pathetic former self with contempt. He couldn't understand how this weak, whimpering entity had once been him. "What kind of nothingness is this?" he roared, his voice low and menacing. The passive Nightmare, frightened by the sound, stumbled back, tripped, and fell.

Nightmare moved closer, his tentacles writhing like hungry snakes. He leaned over Passive Nightmare, his blue eye blazing with disgust. "You shame me," he hissed. "You are what I left behind. Weakness, cowardice, insignificance. I will not allow you to exist."

The passive Nightmare, trembling with fear, tried to explain: "I… I just wanted to be loved. I wanted to protect Dream." But Nightmare didn't listen. He saw only his former weakness, which had to be destroyed. He raised one of his tentacles, ready to strike. "You will die here," he roared, "and I will forget that you ever existed."

The Nightmare from the future wants to keep the Passive Nightmare for himself.
