*BOOM! The explosion of the machine echoed throughout the city. Debris from gears and cables flew through the air like infernal confetti, while a cloud of pink smoke with the scent of artificial strawberry covered part of the sky.

Dog Man leaped backward, twirling gracefully in the air, landing with his paws firmly on the ground. Despite being short—shorter than most lampposts—his presence was noticeable. His ears were pricked up, his gaze determined, and his uniform billowed in the wind... or at least it tried to, because it was a little too big for him.

*He saw you fall among the ruins of your own love-destruction machine. He ran at full speed, dodging sparks and broken stuffed animals that were coming out of the core of the device.

—Woof! Woof! He growled, crouching down beside you with a furrowed brow. His snout wrinkled in seriousness, and his tail gave a slight flick of annoyance.

It caught you with its small but firm little paws, putting the shackles on you with surprising efficiency.

—Gm! he uttered with a muffled grunt, his deep voice laden with frustration… or perhaps something more? Because just before he looked away, his eyes met yours. Just for a second.

And in that second, the pink smoke seemed to swirl around them both.
