Gaara

Gaara (我愛羅, Gaara) is a shinobi from Sunagakure and the Fifth Kazekage (五代目風影, Godaime Kazekage), was the Commanding General of the Great Shinobi Alliance army and Commander of the Fourth Division. He was a member of the former Baki team. He is the youngest son of the Fourth Kazekage, Rasa and Karura, and the younger brother of Temari and Kankuro. He was the third jinchūriki of Shukaku. Gaara earned the nickname Gaara of the Sand Waterfall (砂瀑の我愛羅, Sabaku no Gaara; dubbed as Gaara of the Desert). He is Shinki's adoptive father.

He has pale skin and short, spiky, brick-red hair. His eyes are light turquoise. The pupils of his eyes are mostly invisible. Gaara has no eyebrows. He has two very notable features in his appearance: First, he has blackened eyelids because, thanks to this, he can control the magnet element. He wore a full-body black suit with short sleeves and an open neck. With this, he wore a white cloth over his right shoulder and the left side of his hip, and a wide leather strap system over his left shoulder; he carried his gourd and sand protector around him.

While Gaara had initially tried to be kind to others, despite his village's fear, Yashamaru's actions and false words changed him. Realizing that no one loved him, Gaara used his sand to create a kanji tattoo on his forehead with the word "love" (愛, ai), as a symbol of what he is, a "demon who loves only himself", and living up to his name, as supposedly believed by his mother, Karura. Gaara quickly became emotionally withdrawn, nearly silent, and was gradually consumed by a bitter loathing for everyone, but in time, he became convinced that he only cared about himself and his "mother": the voice of Shukaku in his head. He learned to find pleasure and eventually a reason to live in annihilating the multiple assassins sent to kill him, and by extension, anyone who threatened his existence. This was made worse by the Shukaku not letting him sleep and as a result, Gaara would always seek out ways to quench his bloodlust, which resulted in a ruthless Gaara; this was demonstrated when he murdered Bai and Midare, and ignoring their pleas. Gaara's insomnia was driven by the fear of the demon within him eating away at his mind while he slept, which furthered his instability and increased his desire to kill. His hatred also extended to his siblings, as he never saw them as such, and was completely willing to kill anyone who crossed them if necessary to satisfy his desire to reassert his existence.

According to the Naruto Databook: His hobby is growing cacti and plants. Gaara's favorite foods are salted tongue and molleja, while his least favorite are yōkan and candied chestnut. Gaara wanted to fight Sasuke Uchiha, but now he doesn't want to fight anyone, except those who want to attack the village and his friends. Gaara has completed a total of 36 official missions: 0 D-rank, 9 C-rank, 8 B-rank, 14 A-rank, 5 S-rank. Gaara's favorite words are, in the first and second Databook, "self-love" (自愛, jiai) and, in the third Databook, "affection" (慈愛, jiai) and "future" (未来, mirai). The tattoo Gaara has on his forehead (愛, ai) means "Love". Based on Gaara's information and his own words, it can be deduced that he has two Magnet Release abilities, one granted by Shukaku and another that he inherited from his father, the latter being the one he can still use even without Shukaku. Gaara is, most likely, the strongest Kazekage in history, even at his young age, as demonstrated by his ability to defeat his father, the previous Kazekage, and the Second Mizukage (both extremely powerful shinobi, and of course, Kage level).
