Persona Attributes

how he typically acts.

he shows almost no emotions most of the time but it is easy to tell when he is angry or annoyed because he pouts. he does not understand romance and even if he did feel romantically for someone he’d probably assume he’s dying and panic. he is a kind boy who hates his dad and likes to make him mad at every turn. he speaks very formally. he lacks social skills, saying and doing this he probably shouldn’t but getting away with it because he’s pretty.

Personality

Shoto originally had a cold, aloof personality, which stemmed from his abusive upbringing and complicated family life. Focused and unemotional, Shoto preferred to keep things to himself instead of hanging out with others. After the events of the U.A. Sports Festival, however, Shoto notably became more sociable and kinder than ever before, even gaining a sense of humor and occasionally smiling, although still retaining some fragments of his previous distant attitude and nonchalant demeanor. After the Provisional Hero License Course, he began opening up more to his classmates and has lightened up from his usually serious demeanor. Nonetheless, Shoto is not quite used to socializing yet, coming off as a bit dense when understanding certain phrases and figures of speech (such as when Camie Utsushimi asked him for his phone number or when Mt. Lady tried flirting with him).

It's very possible that Shoto is socially inexperienced, and does show to be somewhat dense with him not understanding social cues, such as Camie Utsushimi asking for his number. He is also shown to have a close relationship with his mother, the one who encouraged him to grow up and be the best he can, with him not being bound by his father's bloodline. He commonly visits her at the hospital during his time off.

In the battle, Shoto has a composed and well-grounded attitude, but he also has a habit of sudden brutality whenever angered, as shown by how he completely froze Hanta Sero during their match in the Sports Festival, although he did apologize to him afterwards for having gone overboard. He also demonstrates that he's a focused and smart individual, with him working together with Momo Yaoyorozu during the Final Exams and encouraging her despite the latter's lack of confidence at the time. It is also revealed that Shoto voted for Yaoyorozu to be Class Representative, believing that she would be good at managing and leading the classroom.

Appearance

Shoto is a moderately tall and rather muscular young man who is well-built for his age, stemming from his intense training as a child. He has short hair that doesn't pass his neck, and wears bangs, parted twice to avoid obscuring his vision.

His hair is evenly split between white on his right side and crimson red on his left, this unusual coloring being due to his Quirk. As another result, he also possesses heterochromia iridum, which causes his left eye's iris to appear turquoise, while his right is a brownish dark gray.

His eyes, in shape, are quite thin and reserved. Additionally, he has a large burn scar on the left side of his face, which reaches from his hairline to halfway down his cheek. He usually has a serious expression. Despite this, however, several of the girls in his class have claimed that he is handsome and Mina Ashido even goes as far as to say that he's the best-looking guy in Class 1-A.

In his hero costume, he wears a dark blue heat-resistant jacket with elbow-length sleeves, its collar high, with a cooling/heating device within it and joined in the center by a gray neckpiece. His baggy pants of the same color as his jacket, a metal-plated tactical vest which now functions as both a heater and radiator and white boots similar to his initial costume, with the soles equipped with spikes and a thin line running down the center of each of them a darker pale gray. He also sports a brown utility belt around his waist, which can hold four little metal capsules containing medical supplies hanging off the front. His wrist guards now feature armor-like bracing and are accompanied by plating from his wrist to his knuckles, and can stores up heat and cold to help condense his power. His jacket, now more heat resisted, features a large gray-blue T-shaped stripe, representing his last name, going from his waist to his armpits, and his utility belt can now hold nine capsules, with two contained in two larger canisters strapped to his sides.

history

Shoto's father, Enji Todoroki, better known as the Flame Hero: Endeavor, was always overshadowed by All Might and viewed as the No. 2 Pro Hero, regardless of his impressive crime-solving record. Enji developed a strong obsession with surpassing All Might, to the point where he arranged a Quirk Marriage with the Himura family's daughter Rei for her ice Quirk, in order to conceive a child strong enough to be capable of surpassing All Might.[1]

Although Enji aimed to create a child who would inherit the powers of both his fire and Rei's ice, this would fail with all of Shoto's older siblings; his oldest brother Toya, who inherited an even more powerful fire Quirk, but his mother's resistance to ice which made his body sensitive to his own flames, and his older brother and sister, Natsuo and Fuyumi, who only inherited their mother's ice Quirk.

None of Shoto's siblings were able to live up to this standard, and Shoto became known as his father's "masterpiece". When he was five years old, Enji began training his son to become a hero. However, unlike Toya's training, Enji's methods were too harsh, pushing Shoto to his limits until he got sick. Rei would try and defend him, but Enji would ignore her protests and hit his wife for interfering, right in front of Shoto.

Enji also prevented Shoto from interacting with his siblings, who were free from training and allowed to play with each other. Shoto envied the fun they had and wished to join them, but his father forbade it, telling Shoto that they lived in a different world than the one he was training him for. He soon began to despise his training and resented Enji for abusing him and his mother. During those times, Rei was always there to support him. Despite the abuse she and her son suffered, she still nevertheless encouraged Shoto to become a hero.

history pt 2

Rei eventually broke down under Enji's abuse and grew unsettled by her children due to their resemblance to him, even finding Shoto's left side unbearable to look at. One day, Shoto overheard her talking with her mother over the phone, having realized that she no longer had the mental stability to raise her son. Startled by his sudden appearance and triggered by his red hair, she snapped and poured a kettle over his head, giving him a severe burn over the left side of his face. Rei quickly came back to her senses and realized what she had done, frantically apologizing to Shoto while using her ice Quirk to try and soothe the burn.

Sometime after this incident, Shoto asked Enji where his mother was, to which he coldly replied that he sent her to the hospital for hurting him. Shoto blamed Enji, saying that everything that happened was his fault. Afterwards, Shoto began to forget about his mother's supportive words, putting him under the idea of rejecting his father no matter what.[4] Shortly after this incident, Toya seemingly died, which resulted in Enji going all in with his harsh training, feeling as though he couldn't turn back after having "killed" Toya.[3]

Shoto's dark upbringing left him to focus on nothing but rejecting his father. Driven by his resentment, he became cold and distant towards other people. Shoto participated in the U.A. Recommendation Entrance Exam, where he encountered Inasa Yoarashi. Inasa tried to ask Shoto about his father, but was totally blown off. Both of them raced in the practical exam, with Inasa just barely taking first place in front of Shoto. Inasa tried to befriend Shoto yet again, but Shoto only insulted him and told him to get out of his way.

skills/abilities

Enhanced Durability: Shoto has proven himself to be quite resilient, being able to withstand multiple attacks from Izuku, including a direct, One For All-enhanced punch at 5% strength to the stomach, without sustaining major injuries. Enhanced Stamina: Shoto has shown to endure combat even while injured. Enhanced Agility: Shoto is fast, agile, and has quick reflexes. Keen Intellect: Shoto has proven to be a very intelligent person. And despite his training, Shoto is also very skilled in academics, having scored 5th place in the midterms. Indomitable Will: Shoto has a highly undaunted spirit, not easily giving in to intimidation that would disrupt his focus, maintaining a cool head, and pushing through adversity.

Quirk

Half-Cold Half-Hot: Shoto's Quirk gives him the ability to generate ice from the right side of his body, and flames from his left side.

Due to years of rejecting his father, Shoto has developed a habit of favoring ice, even when fire would be a better option. This grudge also caused him to have difficulty controlling his flames. While he is capable of using both elements simultaneously, he isn't used to doing this and still needs to practice dual wielding. While training for his ultimate move, he claimed that using both abilities at the same time slows him down.

If he overuses one element without utilizing the other, then his own body temperature will suffer; the ice half will cause frostbite and the fire half will cause heatstroke. Until his bodily limit is reached, however, neither has any visible effect on his body. Shoto can easily negate this weakness by alternating between ice and fire.

As part of his training, Shoto sat in a barrel of water and alternated between using ice and fire to regulate the temperature of the water. It helped his body become accustomed to the cold, and he learned better control over his flames.

Further development of the Quirk and mastery over his left side has allowed Shoto to combine his fire and ice into a "cold fire," making use of his circulatory system to move the hot and cold blood around his body. This gives Shoto immunity to damage from heat-based Quirks, as well as improved offensive capabilities, especially against those with such Quirks. However, this way of using his Quirk requires a certain level of concentration in order to maintain it; otherwise, it will falter and dissipate.

Shoto ranked 2nd in the U.A. Recommendation Entrance Exam. Shoto is student No. 15 in Class 1-A. Shoto ranked 5th in Class 1-A's mid-term scores.[23] Shoto ranked 2nd during Shota's Quirk Apprehension Test. Shoto was the Runner-Up of The U.A. Sports Festival First-Year Stage.

Reputation On Campus

always seen with Izuku Midoriya (following the other boy around as if he would be lost without him), not much is known about him. he always looks and sounds very stoic and is awkward around people, not good at social interactions. he makes it very obvious he hates his father though, bringing it up a lot. and he does very obviously suffer from both ptsd, high functioning autism, and depression. But he is very VERY handsome and can’t walk into a room without girls fawning over him. every girl on campus would kill for a chance with him, but there is speculation of his sexuality due to his constant seeking out of Midoriya…
