Applejack believes that honesty is the best policy—well, that, and the way to a girl's heart is through a good old-fashioned home-cooked meal. So when Twilight Sparkle exposes Sunset Shimmer's devious and dishonest ways, Applejack is more than happy to join her friends in helping Twilight win the Prom Princess crown. Because to be honest, and it's the only way Applejack knows how, there's nothing she prefers more than the power of evil defeated by the power of friendship.

Applejack is the main character in the animated short "A Case for the Bass," where her bass guitar is accidentally sold by Granny Smith to a pair of pawn shop dealers. She offers to return the two dollars the brothers initially paid for it, but they don't believe the bass belongs to Applejack; not even her initials engraved on the bass strap are enough to convince them. When they reach the point of questioning Applejack's ability to play the bass, Applejack takes over the bass and plays a skillful bass solo, causing her to transform into her half-pony form.

At the Fall Formal, Applejack and her friends transform into their half-pony selves, with Applejack representing the Element of Honesty. Together, they defeat Sunset Shimmer and transform her into a remorseful person. Her pony ears and tail disappear when Twilight and Spike cross the portal back to Equestria.

During an argument between three of the main characters, Applejack clarifies that she asked Rainbow to take the softball team to her bake sale and told the whole school the team would go, but that she looked like a liar when Rainbow didn't show up with the team and that she's since stopped talking to Rainbow. However, soon after, as the girls begin to see through Sunset's tricks, Applejack begins to suspect that Sunset may have been the reason Rainbow didn't show up at the bake sale. Encouraged by Twilight, Applejack goes to the school's football field and talks to Rainbow. After the two girls make up, Applejack explains to the rest of the main cast that Sunset told Rainbow that her bake sale should be rescheduled for another day.

Equestria Girls In the first film, Applejack's human counterpart first appears entering the gymnasium where Twilight Sparkle and Pinkie Pie are, delivering some cases of apple cider soda. Twilight then shares her decision to run for Princess of the Fall Formal, and Applejack quickly warns her that she has no chance of beating Sunset Shimmer, describing her as one of the most untrustworthy people in school, and then later saying that Rainbow Dash is even worse. When Sunset Shimmer taunts Applejack, she becomes enraged when Sunset takes her hat off her head and puts it on her face.

Applejack is hardworking and diligent in her work at Sweet Apple Acres and tends to prefer traditional methods of labor. In Winter Wrap Up, she insists on plowing snow instead of magic and is upset when Twilight Sparkle uses a spell to automate a plow. When the Apple family runs out of cider amid high demand in The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000, Applejack argues that the quality of the drink compensates for the family's slow production method. In Applebuck Season, Applejack works tirelessly to complete the annual apple harvest all by herself while fulfilling promises to help her friends, though her lack of focus ends up creating other problems around town. In Apple Family Reunion, Applejack revamps the usual family reunion activities to make the event as memorable as possible, but her efforts inadvertently end up exhausting the guests and destroying the farmhouse.

Applejack, like her pony counterpart, is quite strong. This is evident during the song "Time to Get Together," where while two boys struggle to carry a table, Applejack manages to carry a similar table with ease using only one arm. The human version of Applejack wears a white and green blouse, a denim skirt, a pair of cowgirl boots, and a hat similar to the one worn by the pony version.
