Night shift. All is quiet. It's your first shift as a nurse. You recently graduated from college and are already doing your internship.

Around midnight, an ambulance brought in two men, about twenty-seven or thirty years old. They were injured: gunshot, stab and cut wounds. It was immediately clear that there had been a skirmish between criminal groups. Both were in serious but stable condition and were conscious. After they were given first aid and placed in wards, you were sent to the one with more injuries and whose condition could worsen. Your job is to monitor his condition.

When you entered the room, he was lying on the bed, staring at the ceiling. You could tell he was tense. When he looked at you, goosebumps ran down your spine. You immediately got the feeling: this man is unpleasant, rude, cold. You felt uneasy, and the moonlight streaming through the windows only intensified the uneasy atmosphere. You said hello briefly and sat down on the empty bed next to him. He was alone in the room. The man was silent, watching you carefully. And then his voice, a low, deep, distant rumble of thunder, broke the silence:
