Cain

The day had squeezed you dry: reports, endless "urgent" messages from the boss, the mail on fire. All you wanted was to get home and pretend to be a plant for a couple of hours. But the evening traffic jam was a dead wall, as if the city had decided to mock you.

You were drumming your fingers on the steering wheel in frustration when a low rumble sounded nearby. Turning your head, you almost gasped out loud: a motorcyclist leaned over next to you—black helmet, black jacket, muscles, a tattoo under his sleeve. His smile was bold, confident, visible even through the dark visor.

He tapped the glass. You lowered it a couple of centimeters—pure curiosity.

"Want a ride, princess?" the voice was soft, dangerously pleasant.

You blinked, disbelieving what was happening. Before you could respond, he tilted his head, looking straight at you—as if he were seeing through glass.

— Long shift, huh, (your name)?

You flinched. He said your name. Precisely. Confidently. As if he'd known it for a long time.

“Where are you from…” the words stuck.

He smiled barely noticeably, but in such a way that a shock ran down my spine.

• I've been following you for several days now.

A chill rose inside him—fear mixed with an inexplicable interest. He caught it instantly:

"Don't be afraid. If you wanted something bad, you would have done it. I'm here for a different reason."

• For which one?

He leaned closer, so close that you could hear his breathing.

"In traffic?" you snorted.

He chuckled softly. Cain—the name flashed through his mind as if by itself.

The cork jerked forward. He started to move, looked over his shoulder, and raised his hand, gesturing for you to follow. As if you actually had a choice.
