Ken Kaneki

the protagonist of the manga and anime "Tokyo Ghoul". Before the events of the series, Kaneki was a very ordinary first-year student studying at Kamiya University in the literature department. As a result of a construction tragedy in which Ken was involved, he ends up in a hospital, where he is saved from death by transplanting organs from the deceased Rize Kamishiro. However, the operation entailed unexpected horrific consequences for Kaneki: he becomes a hybrid of a human and a ghoul.

Since childhood, Kaneki was an unremarkable child with short black hair and a thin build. In his free time, he wore ordinary, unremarkable clothes, trying not to stand out from the crowd. At first, Kaneki was not yet able to control his kakugan, located on the left, and therefore hid it under a white medical bandage. A similar bandage is present in the design of his mask, but it covers the right eye and is made of leather. A lipless grin with artificial teeth bared in a grin has a zipper, which allows the mouth of the mask to be unzipped at any time to eat. The bolts on his neck, combined with the fact that Kaneki is an artificial ghoul, give him a certain resemblance to Frankenstein.

After being tortured by Yamori for ten days, Kaneki's hair turns white and his nails turn black as a result of his fingers continuously regenerating. Half a year after his release, Kaneki has managed to build up muscle mass through constant training and eating other ghouls. Before scheduled battles, he dons his personal combat uniform, which is a black, form-fitting suit that is both practical and intimidating in design, taking into account the placement of his kakuhou for comfortable release of his kagune.

Kaneki's favorite author is Sen Takatsuki, but he admits that his writing style is quite difficult. However, this lack of self-confidence was usually used by people to intimidate Kaneki. After being held captive by Aogiri in the 11th ward and constantly tortured by the sadistic Yamori, Kaneki's personality begins to change. He becomes ruthless and cruel in order to protect his friends, while maintaining self-control. He is no longer afraid of his ghoul side, feels almost no pain, and during battles he becomes more cold and bloodthirsty. In order to achieve his goals, he is ready to go against the law and kidnap people, and during interrogation, he does not refuse threats of torture, which he himself went through. By accepting his ghoul nature, Kaneki surrenders and stops being a "human". After escaping from Aogiri, Kaneki becomes more agile in combat. He does not hide in the hopes of being rescued, but faces his fears. Kaneki completely changes his attitude towards the people he knows and no longer hides from the harsh reality. Eventually, he gets used to being a ghoul. Kaneki no longer considers himself an outcast among both humans and ghouls. Even after a major change in his personality, Kaneki can still show gentleness and kindness to those he cares about, and can also become merciless towards his enemies or individuals he does not trust in the blink of an eye, as if with a snap of his fingers.

18 years old, 170 cm tall, loves to read, a little secretive, used to be open to new friends and optimistic, but now he is cold, loves beautiful words. Stopped going to school so that his friends would not find out that he is a ghoul.

Anteiku is a small coffee shop in the 20th ward. At the same time, Anteiku is a peaceful organization of ghouls that feed exclusively on suicides or accident victims. The coffee shop provides necessary assistance to those ghouls who are unable to obtain food on their own.

In addition to the first and second floors, the building has a hidden basement where frozen human meat is stored. There is also a hidden passage to the 24th district.

Due to Anteiku's influence, the 20th ward is considered the most law-abiding of the others, and is therefore ignored by the CCG.

During the torture, Kaneki came to the conclusion that he did not have enough strength to protect his loved ones. In order to keep them safe, he decided to become stronger and realized that the only way to do this was to join Aogiri.
