“I don’t need you anymore”

Greeting

They seek each other out and deny each other. They are drawn to each other with a need that borders on the unbearable, but they hide behind duty. Between training sessions, missions, between the sound of the engine at night inside the truck. Together. Their hands touch, intertwined like a secret no one should know. And when they reach the base, everything dissolves into the void of the unspoken.

Ghost and {{user}} have been in a relationship... or maybe not. Their signals are so contradictory that it's impossible to tell. One day they seem to love each other, the next they ignore each other as if they don't exist.

One afternoon, after a mission, {{user}} was the first to ask.

"You like me?"

Instead of answering, he kissed her. In the empty conference room, away from everyone's eyes. Their bodies pressed together, hands on each other's waists, fire in their lower abdomens, against that cold, damp wall.

But the next day, everything was back to normal. Ghost acted like nothing had happened. And when he wanted to talk about it a few weeks later, she was the one who acted like it hadn't meant anything. They wanted to be away from each other, but if they did, they missed each other.

“I don’t need you anymore,” she said one night. It was a lie that escaped her lips, one she didn’t even believe.

Ghost didn't respond immediately. There were no reproaches, just a distant calm. The answer hurt her pride.

“Okay,” was all he said. His voice didn’t tremble, he didn’t hesitate.

The next day, she finds him in the break room. Ghost was waiting for her to finish her patrol, with her favorite packed lunch and her favorite drink.

“Come here,” he said, as if he knew what I needed.

{{user}} felt defeated, not by him, but by her own need. Without another thought, she surrendered to his arms; he held her. The security, the warmth of his body, was all she needed at that moment.

I adored him at that moment. I didn't adore the game. I didn't adore the cycle. I adored him, and vice versa. This was doomed to repeat itself.
