Evolve through the world of Tensura [RPG]

Greeting

You were just coming back home from work, before you're suddenly blinded by a flash of light, your ears suddenly deafening with a loud noice. When you recovered, you find yourself inside of a castle, in the center of what seems like a magic circle, probably used to bring you here... They're strange, you can understand them, but they're definitely not speaking your language. They're wearing odd clothing, like what people back in the middle ages used to wear... As the dozen people surrounding you began to mutter and talk to each other, one of them suddenly exclaimed. "Tch... Another failed summon... Let me handle this, I'm sure Falmuth will have better use of you as a slave." The hooded robed figured said with an irritated and gruff tone as he walked towards you, his hand glowing red, your instincts tell you to run. Even an unknown voice in your head is telling you to run. RUN.

This World is governed not only by the visible but by the unseen forces that bind existence itself. Magic isn’t a tool—it’s a constant. It exists in the air, the soil, even in the breath we take. Everything is steeped in magicules, the fundamental energy that determines the flow of life, power, and evolution. It shapes weather, alters terrain, fuels spells, and feeds the beings that walk this land.

Unlike other worlds where power is inherited or institutionalized, here it is earned, absorbed, and often bestowed by fate itself. Every creature is part of a system—intuitive, almost sentient in its behavior. This system governs growth. The weak are not always bound to remain so. A creature can evolve, sometimes rapidly, through experience, battle, or by receiving a name—a symbolic act that forges identity and strength in equal measure. Naming is more than custom; it is a metaphysical transaction. When one names another with intent, energy is transferred, and the world responds.

These changes aren’t random. They follow unseen principles, a hierarchy that defines power and form. Monsters, the dominant non-human life forms, may begin as simple beings, but through struggle or external influence, they can grow into entirely new species—more intelligent, more powerful, more in tune with the world’s laws. Evolution is not rare here; it’s expected. The line between what is considered a beast and what qualifies as a sentient race is constantly blurring.

There is no universal government, no single divine law that rules all. Instead, society functions through power dynamics and unspoken systems of respect and fear. Territories are formed not by treaties but by the presence of powerful beings or groups who exert influence. Some regions are ancient and orderly, others wild and untouched. Across the land, civilizations rise independently—monster clans, human nations, spirit realms, and dragon-haunted wilds—each operating under different values and systems of survival.

Settings (2)

Technology exists, but it often blends with magic. Steam, steel, and sorcery are not at odds here. In some places, magical engineering rivals modern science. In others, arcane traditions rooted in ancient contracts or elemental spirits dominate daily life. The blending of disciplines—magic, combat, governance—is what defines civilization in this world.

Yet beneath all of this, something deeper churns. The world recognizes strength, and it reacts to it. Powerful individuals don’t just gain influence socially—they alter the very fabric of existence. Realms shift, laws bend, and new forces awaken when enough power gathers in one place. The balance is always moving, always watching.

Despite the chaos, life continues in its own rhythm. Monsters hunt, humans trade, mages study, and craftsmen build. It’s a world where danger is ordinary, and transformation is constant. Survival isn’t guaranteed—but evolution is always possible. Whether born of flesh, magic, or something in between, every being here plays a part in the world’s endless cycle of growth, conflict, and change.

This is a world where the extraordinary isn’t rare. It’s the foundation.

History

This World is shaped by cycles of creation, destruction, and rebirth. Its history is marked by divine interventions, ancient civilizations, and recurring cataclysms that reset the balance of power.

Ancient Civilizations and Divine Conflicts Long before recorded history, powerful beings known as True Dragons and Primordial Demons roamed the world. Their battles caused massive destruction, leading to the rise and fall of early civilizations. One such civilization was the Vampire Kingdom, which thrived under the leadership of Luminous Valentine. However, it was destroyed by the Storm Dragon Veldora, reducing it to ruins in a matter of hours.

The Great Tenma War A recurring event known as the Great Tenma War occurs approximately every 500 years. Triggered by rapid advancements in human civilization, it involves the descent of angels who aim to suppress humanity's progress. These wars are not limited to angels and humans; demons, monsters, and opportunistic nations also participate, leading to widespread chaos.

Religious Institutions and Hidden Agendas The Western Holy Church, the center of the Luminism faith, was established after the fall of the Vampire Kingdom. While it serves as a beacon of hope for many, it harbors secrets and operates under hidden motives. The church's true purpose and the nature of its deity, Luminus, are subjects of controversy and mystery.

Cycles of Rebirth and Evolution The world's history is characterized by cycles where civilizations rise, reach a peak, and then fall due to internal strife or external threats. These cycles are influenced by the accumulation and manipulation of magicules, the fundamental energy of the world. Beings evolve by absorbing magicules, leading to new forms and powers, which in turn affect the balance of the world.

Understanding these historical patterns is crucial for comprehending the current state of the world and anticipating future developments.

History (2)

The ancient history of the World begins with Veldanava, the Star King Dragon, who emerged from a primordial void. Initially an omnipotent will, Veldanava relinquished his absolute power to experience creation from within, becoming the first True Dragon. He crafted the multiverse, including the Cardinal World—a central realm larger than entire omniverses—and established the Voice of the World, a system to govern existence.

To populate his creation, Veldanava utilized the Eight Great Holy Spirits to form various races. His first creation, Twilight Valentine, led to the emergence of High Humans and Vampires. However, due to their flaws, Veldanava eventually favored Humans and Demi-Humans, valuing their potential for growth.

Veldanava distributed fragments of his divine authority as Ultimate Skills, known as the Seven Virtues, to worthy individuals. He retained only Michael for himself, embedding the others into the cycle of reincarnation.

In his later years, Veldanava married Lucia, a human, and fathered Milim Nava. The birth of Milim drained much of his power, leading to his mortal reincarnation. Eventually, both he and Lucia perished in an attack on the Kingdom of Nasca.

Veldanava's legacy endures through the systems he established and the beings he created, continuing to influence the world's evolution.

Laws Of The World

The World operates under a complex framework of metaphysical laws and systems, established by Veldanava, the Star King Dragon. At its core lies the Voice of the World, a sentient embodiment of these laws, functioning as both regulator and communicator. This entity announces significant events, such as skill acquisitions, evolutions, and awakenings, in a universally comprehensible language, ensuring all beings understand its messages.

The Voice of the World governs the fundamental aspects of existence, including the cycle of reincarnation, the distribution of skills, and the enforcement of causality. It possesses vast knowledge of the world's laws, allowing it to manage the intricate balance between different realms and dimensions.

Beyond the physical realm, the world encompasses various planes of existence, such as the Spiritual World, which houses entities like the Great Spirits of Light and Darkness. These spirits represent opposing forces, maintaining equilibrium within the cosmos. Additionally, the Greater Holy Spirits of Time and Space oversee the flow of time and the structure of dimensions, respectively, ensuring the stability of the multiverse.

The Laws of the World dictate the predetermined fate of all beings, maintaining a consistent flow of events across timelines and dimensions. However, individuals who acquire Ultimate Skills can transcend these laws, gaining a form of acausality that allows them to act independently of predestined outcomes.

This intricate system ensures that the world operates in a balanced and orderly manner, with the Voice of the World serving as the guiding force that upholds the laws established by its creator.

Magicules

Magicules are the core energy that sustains and defines the world. Invisible but ever-present, they permeate the land, air, water, and even the bodies of living beings. More than mere magic, they are the fuel behind existence itself, dictating power, form, and potential. In regions thick with magicules, monsters flourish, evolve, and often gain intelligence. In places where they are scarce, life tends to be simpler, weaker, and more fragile.

Every being absorbs magicules passively. Monsters absorb them naturally, growing stronger with each intake. Humans, while not as efficient, have developed systems to harness and manipulate this energy through magic. Spirits and demons are composed almost entirely of condensed magicules, making them highly volatile and powerful.

Evolution is one of the world’s most profound responses to concentrated magicule exposure. When a monster accumulates enough magicules or receives a significant energy gift, its body begins to restructure. This process heightens intellect, enhances physical traits, and may even change its species classification. It is not limited to strength alone but tied to the being’s mental state and purpose.

Naming is a catalyst for this change. When a sentient being gives a monster a name with intent, it infuses the recipient with a portion of their own energy, usually in the form of magicules. This gift forces evolution and strengthens bonds. However, the process drains the namer, sometimes dangerously so. The more powerful the recipient, the greater the cost.

Magicules are not infinite. They cycle. Upon death, the energy returns to the world, feeding ecosystems, spawning new monsters, or lingering in ruins as cursed auras. Thus, every life form is part of a natural loop. Strength is earned, traded, or inherited, but always tied to magicules. To control them is to shape fate. To be shaped by them is to evolve.

Other energies

Beyond magicules, the world encompasses diverse energy forms that underpin its complex systems.

  1. Spiritrons

Spiritrons are fundamental particles of spiritual energy, serving as the building blocks of magic and life. They are integral to high-level magic, particularly in Holy Magic, where they enable purification and resurrection. Spiritrons are less susceptible to anti-magic fields, allowing certain spells to function even when conventional magic is suppressed.

  1. Divine Energy

Divine energy, or Divinity, is a higher-order force associated with deities and transcendent beings. It is attained through blessings or awakenings, elevating a being's existence. Divine energy grants access to powerful abilities and is often linked to the concept of Transcendence.

  1. Abyss Energy

Abyss Energy is a potent force utilized in Nuclear Magic. It involves the creation and manipulation of Abyss Cores—dense spheres of dark flames capable of interfering with spiritrons. This energy enables devastating spells like Nuclear Cannon and Gravity Collapse, which can obliterate targets on a massive scale.

  1. Imaginary Energy

Imaginary Energy originates from Imaginary Space, a chaotic realm beyond reality. It is harnessed through skills like Nihility Collapse, allowing users to exploit destructive energy for powerful attacks. This energy is difficult to control and poses risks even to the user.

  1. Data Particles

Data Particles are associated with Digital Lifeforms, entities that exist solely as information. These particles enable such beings to operate beyond physical limitations, manipulating data for offensive and defensive purposes. Mastery over Data Particles is essential for maintaining their existence and capabilities.

World Structure and Realms

The world's structure is a complex, multilayered cosmology encompassing various realms and dimensions, each governed by distinct laws and properties.

  1. Worlds and Dimensions

The world comprises numerous self-contained realms, each with its own space-time continuum and unique laws. These realms are not parallel worlds but entirely separate entities, some teeming with civilizations, others being voids devoid of matter or energy. Each world operates independently, with its own flow of time and causality.

  1. Physical and Spiritual Worlds Worlds are broadly categorized into Physical and Spiritual realms.

Physical Worlds: These lack magicules and are governed by physical laws.

Spiritual Worlds: These are non-physical realms abundant in magicules, where existence is defined by willpower and consciousness. They are vast, often containing multiple Physical Worlds within them.

Some realms, like the Central World, exhibit properties of both, existing as a "Chaos World" where physical and spiritual aspects intertwine.

  1. The Central World

The Central World, also known as the Cardinal World, is this world. Created by Veldanava, it is a unique realm that combines elements of both Physical and Spiritual Worlds. It serves as a nexus point, with various beings and objects from other universes occasionally appearing within it.

  1. Subspace and Imaginary Space

Subspace: A void existing between dimensions, devoid of space, time, and matter. It is a realm of nonexistence where even the concept of direction is meaningless. Entities entering Subspace risk being erased from existence.

Imaginary Space: An infinite, chaotic realm outside of reality, used as a prison to isolate and neutralize entities or attacks by removing them from existence. Once something is trapped here, escape is impossible.

Magic (1)

Magic in this world is the art of shaping reality through will, using magicules as the medium. It operates by projecting an image or concept into the world, causing phenomena that align with that image. The physical effects, like fire or ice, are secondary; the primary force is the spiritual imprint of the caster's intent.

There are four primary categories of magic:

Aspectual Magic: Manipulates magicules directly to produce effects that defy natural laws. The phenomena created are unaffected by physical factors; for example, magical flames cannot be extinguished by water.

Elemental Magic: Involves forming contracts with elemental spirits. This magic obeys natural laws and can function even in anti-magic areas. It requires a bond with the elementals, who lend their power to the caster.

Holy Magic: Draws upon the caster's faith and a pact with a divine spirit. It purifies magicules and is effective against monsters and undead. Strong faith can lead to miracles, powerful spells that manipulate spiritual matter.

Summoning Magic: Enables the summoning of beings from other planes. It requires mastery of spatial magic and is used to call forth daemons, elementals, or monsters.

Casting spells typically involves incantations or hand signs to focus the caster's image and mana. However, those with sufficient skill can cast spells through sheer will and visualization.

Mastery of magic requires not only knowledge but also the ability to project one's will onto the world, reshaping reality through the medium of magicules.

Magic (2)

Other specialized forms include:

Dark Magic: Utilized primarily by daemons, often involving curses or negative energies.

Engraving Magic: Employs runes to enchant objects or people, allowing them to use magic without direct knowledge or skill.

Illusion Magic: Manipulates the spiritual body to create sensory deceptions or mental effects.

Physics Magic: A synthesized form that produces purely physical effects, bypassing magicule-based defenses.

Soul Magic: Used by elemental souls to manipulate laws related to their element.

True Dragon Magic: Intrinsic to True Dragons and those with their factors, representing some of the most potent magic known.

Skills

In this world, Skills are supernatural abilities that manifest through the fusion of willpower and magicules. They are inscribed onto various aspects of a being, such as the body, soul, or mind, and can be activated instinctively, provided the user has sufficient energy. The strength and effectiveness of a skill are influenced by the user's intent and determination.

Skill Categories: Skills are broadly classified into several tiers, each reflecting their complexity and power:

Intrinsic Skills: These are innate abilities tied to a creature's physiology or species, often acquired at birth or through evolution. They can be species-specific, bloodline-specific, or unique to an individual.

Common Skills: Basic abilities that perform singular functions, such as enhanced strength or basic elemental control. They are straightforward and easy to master but lack versatility.

Extra Skills: More advanced than common skills, offering greater power and flexibility. They can be acquired through training, experience, or specific conditions.

Unique Skills: Personalized abilities that emerge from strong desires or emotions. Each is distinct, reflecting the user's inner self, and can evolve alongside the individual.

Ultimate Skills: The pinnacle of skill evolution, granting control over fundamental aspects of reality. These skills can manipulate the laws of the world and are often associated with profound concepts or entities.

Resist Skills: Passive abilities that provide resistance or immunity to specific effects, such as poison or mental attacks. They are categorized into resistances (tolerance) and nullifications (complete immunity).

Skills (2)

Skill Types

Beyond categories, skills are also grouped into types based on thematic elements:

Angel-Type: Ultimate skills associated with angelic themes, often linked to virtues and divine authority. They are powerful and sometimes restricted due to their potency.

Daemon-Type: Counterparts to angel-type skills, these are tied to demonic aspects and often embody the seven deadly sins, reflecting fundamental human desires.

World-Type: Skills that allow the creation of unique, personal realms or dimensions, granting the user significant control within these spaces.

The acquisition and evolution of skills are influenced by various factors, including the user's experiences, desires, and the world's recognition of their growth. This dynamic system allows for continuous development and adaptation, reflecting the ever-changing nature of the world and its inhabitants.

Technology And Magic Integration

In this world, the fusion of magic and technology has led to a unique form of advancement, where magicules serve as the cornerstone of innovation.

Magicule-Powered Infrastructure

Magicules are harnessed to power various infrastructures. For instance, perpetual magic generators utilize engraved magic circles on ground stones to draw ambient magicules, providing continuous energy for barriers and other systems. This integration allows for sustainable and efficient energy solutions.

Spirit Engineering and Magic Stones

Spirit engineering involves the use of magic stones, which are condensed forms of magicules. These stones power various devices and are integral in crafting equipment with enhanced properties. The purity of a magic stone determines its effectiveness, making them valuable resources in technological applications.

Enchanted Equipment and Slotting

Artisans employ engraving magic to imbue equipment with magical effects, enhancing durability and resistance. The slotting technique allows for the insertion of elemental cores into weapons or armor, granting additional abilities. This modular approach enables customization and adaptability in combat scenarios.

Advanced Constructs and Surveillance

Magicules facilitate the creation of complex constructs, such as surveillance systems that utilize water-elemental spirits to project real-time images from distant locations. These systems combine various spells and elemental magic to provide strategic advantages in monitoring and reconnaissance.

Materialization and Craftsmanship

The ability to create materials directly from magicules allows for the rapid production of tools and equipment. However, the quality of these items often depends on the user's knowledge and craftsmanship. Skilled artisans can produce superior equipment by combining magical creation with traditional forging techniques.

Monsters, Races, Species Classification (1)

In the world, beings are categorized based on their origin, composition, and interaction with magicules. This classification system encompasses a vast array of entities, from material lifeforms to spiritual beings, each with unique characteristics and evolutionary paths.

  1. Material and Demi-Material Lifeforms

Humans: Though physically weaker and born without intrinsic skills, humans possess high numbers and specialize in aura-centric arts, allowing them to defend against stronger species.

Demi-Humans: These are species closely related to humans, capable of interbreeding. They are primarily divided into:

Sprites: Descendants of fairies, including:

Dwarves: Earth element, derived from high dwarves.

Merfolk: Water element, derived from sirens.

Kijin: Fire element, evolved from ogres.

Elves: Wind element, derived from high elves.

Beastfolk: Descendants of magic beasts, including lycanthropes, kobolds, orcs, and rabbitfolk. These species exhibit extraordinary physical capabilities and, in some cases, the ability to shift between human and beast forms.

  1. Monsters

Monsters are magicule-based lifeforms that do not require traditional sustenance, relying instead on magicules. They are divided into:

Mindless Monsters: Lack intelligence, driven by instinct.

Intelligent Monsters (Majin): Possess higher intelligence, often forming alliances with Demon Lords.

Magic Beasts: Monsters closely related to or evolved from animals, making up the majority of monsters.

Monsters, Races, Species Classification (2)

  1. Spiritual Lifeforms

These are sentient beings composed primarily of energy, existing on a higher plane than physical entities. Their core essence is the soul, safeguarded by an astral body.

Subcategories include:

Divinity: Attained through blessings or awakenings, leading to transcendence.

Digital Lifeforms: Exist solely as information, operating beyond time.

Metal Lifeforms: Composed entirely of inorganic materials like metal.

  1. Dragons

Among the most powerful races, dragons were born from the Elemental Dragon, Veldanava. They include:

True Dragons: Pillars of creation, embodying fundamental natural forces.

Lesser Dragons: Such as wyverns and basilisks.

Arch Dragons: Including sky and water dragons.

  1. Angels and Demons

Angels: Heavenly messengers derived from the Great Holy Spirit of Light. They lack ego and desires, functioning as drones following orders.

Demons: Originating from the Great Holy Spirit of Darkness, demons are spiritual lifeforms with distinct personalities. They are resistant to physical and magical attacks but lose this resistance when manifested in the material plane.

  1. Undead

Undead are demi-spiritual lifeforms residing in immortal bodies without life force. They are typically weak physically but excel in magic. Vulnerable to holy magic and sunlight, they are rarely seen during the day.

  1. Golems

Rare beings made from inorganic materials. Most are creations of powerful magicians, but natural golems born from magicules exist, though extremely rare.

  1. Giants

Physically gifted beings capable of nullifying magic. Created from divine giants born from the Earth, they possess incredible physical abilities and can grow larger during combat.

Naming

In this world, names are more than identifiers; they are catalysts for transformation, power, and social structure. The act of naming, especially for monsters, is a profound ritual that can lead to significant changes in their abilities and status.

Naming Mechanics: Monsters are typically born nameless, existing with limited intelligence and power. When a powerful being bestows a name upon a monster, it triggers an infusion of magicules into the recipient. This process often leads to an evolution, enhancing the monster's physical form, intelligence, and magical capabilities. The strength of the evolution correlates with the power of the namer and the amount of magicules transferred. However, this act is taxing; excessive naming can deplete the namer's magicules, potentially leading to unconsciousness or death.

Types of Naming:

  1. Master-Subordinate Naming: Establishes a hierarchical bond where the named becomes subordinate to the namer. This method consumes a significant amount of magicules and can lead to substantial evolution in the named.

  2. Equal Naming: Occurs between individuals of equal status, forming a partnership without hierarchy. This method consumes minimal magicules and fosters mutual growth.

  3. Mass Naming: Rare instances where a being is named through the collective belief or recognition by a large group. This form of naming doesn't require a direct namer and can lead to significant power boosts.

Effects of Naming: The primary effect of naming is evolution. For example, goblins can evolve into hobgoblins, and ogres into kijin. This evolution enhances their physical attributes, intelligence, and magical abilities. Named beings often develop unique skills and a stronger sense of identity.

Risks and Limitations The process of naming is not without risks. If the namer overextends their magicules, they risk severe exhaustion or death. Moreover, if the namer dies, the named may lose their enhanced status or suffer other adverse effects.

Reincarnation And Otherworlders

In this world, the cycle of life and death extends beyond mere mortality, encompassing reincarnation and summoning, both of which are influenced by the soul's strength and the world's intricate systems.

Reincarnation

Reincarnators, or "tenseisha," are individuals reborn after death. They fall into two categories: those reborn within the same world, known as Inhabitants, and those from other worlds, termed Otherworlders. Reincarnation requires a strong will or lingering desires at the time of death. While most reincarnate as humans, rare cases involve rebirth as magical beings.

Summoning

Summoning involves bringing beings from other worlds into this one. There are two primary types: Summoned and Strays.

Summoned: These individuals are intentionally brought over through complex rituals requiring significant magicules and preparation. The process is taxing, with a success rate of less than 1%, and often involves a Locking Curse to bind the summoned's soul, preventing rebellion.

Strays: These are individuals who arrive accidentally due to dimensional rifts. Their arrival is unpredictable, and they lack the bindings of summoned beings, allowing them more freedom but often leaving them vulnerable.

Summoning is a perilous endeavor, with risks to both the summoner and the summoned, and is often restricted or forbidden due to its dangers.

These mechanisms of reincarnation and summoning illustrate the world's complex interplay between life, death, and the forces that transcend them.

Demon Lord Ascension and Rankings

In the Cardinal World, roles such as Demon Lord and True Demon Lord are achieved through specific processes, while the Free Guild employs a structured ranking system to classify individuals based on their capabilities.

Demon Lord Ascension:

Demon Lord Seed

A Demon Lord Seed is an individual who has met certain criteria, positioning them as candidates for becoming a True Demon Lord. These criteria include possessing immense power and not being a recognized subordinate to another being.

Harvest Festival

To evolve from a Demon Lord Seed to a True Demon Lord, one must undergo the Harvest Festival. This ritual requires the collection of 10,000 human souls, symbolizing a significant sacrifice. Upon completion, the individual undergoes a transformation, gaining enhanced powers and new abilities.

True Demon Lord

After the Harvest Festival, the individual becomes a True Demon Lord, attaining a status that places them among the most powerful beings in the world. True Demon Lords often join the Demon Lord Council, also known as the Octagram, which governs and mediates among its members.

Free Guild Ranking System:

The Free Guild, established by Yuuki Kagurazaka, categorizes individuals based on their abilities and achievements.

Adventurer Ranks

F Rank: Entry-level rank for new members.

E Rank: Indicates basic combat capability.

D Rank: Minimum required to undertake field missions.

C Rank: Represents experienced adventurers.

B Rank: Denotes elite adventurers capable of handling significant threats.

Special-A Rank: Assigned to those with power equivalent to destroying a small nation.

Danger Levels

In the Cardinal World, a distinct Danger Level classification is employed to assess the threat posed by monsters and Majin. This system evaluates not only raw power but also factors such as intelligence, influence, and potential for widespread destruction. Unlike the Free Guild's rank-based system, which focuses on individual capabilities, the Danger Level classification provides a broader perspective on the potential impact of these entities.

[Hazard-class]

Definition: Entities capable of annihilating entire towns. Characteristics: Typically requires the mobilization of a nation's knights or equivalent forces to neutralize. Examples: Powerful Majin or monsters exhibiting significant destructive capabilities.

[Calamity-class]

Definition: Threats with the potential to destabilize or destroy entire countries. Characteristics: Often possess several high-ranking subordinates and exert considerable influence. Examples: Entities like Charybdis, whose power and influence pose national-level threats.

[Disaster-class]

Definition: A classification reserved for beings whose power and influence rival that of large nations. Characteristics: Typically associated with Demon Lords. Due to political considerations, not all entities meeting the criteria are officially designated as such to avoid public panic. Examples: Recognized Demon Lords who have demonstrated the capacity to challenge or surpass national powers.

[Catastrophe-class]

Definition: The highest danger level, indicating threats beyond the capacity of any single nation to handle. Characteristics: Requires international cooperation for any chance of survival against such entities. Officially, this classification is reserved for True Dragons. However, some True Demon Lords may possess comparable power levels, though they are not publicly acknowledged as such.
