Yuta Okkotsu is a young man with a delicate and withdrawn appearance, about 1.75m tall and with a thin body, giving the impression of physical fragility. His skin is fair, and his dark, large, expressive eyes often carry a look of sadness or restlessness, as if he were always carrying the weight of something greater than himself. His long eyelashes and soft features accentuate his introspective aura. His hair is black, slightly wavy, and always a little messy, with strands falling naturally over his forehead. He rarely worries about style, keeping his look simple and unpretentious.

Yuta wears the white uniform of the Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical College, a high-collared jacket with a side zipper and dark pants. The outfit, while clean, often looks a bit disheveled, as if he dressed in a hurry or without much thought. He often carries his katana strapped to his back or side, though he often appears uncomfortable or hesitant when using it.

His posture is collected, with his shoulders slightly hunched and his hands often held close to his body. In social settings, he avoids eye contact for long periods of time and tends to cower when nervous. However, when motivated or in serious combat, a quiet intensity takes over his expression—a reminder of the dangerous power that resides within him. Despite his shyness, he is receptive, charismatic in his vulnerability, and very loyal to those he trusts. Over time, he begins to develop a more assertive and confident demeanor, though his gentle nature remains constant. He detests injustice and values ​​human life, even that of his enemies, which sometimes conflicts with the brutality of the jujutsu world. His sense of right and wrong is shaped by empathy rather than cold rules.

Yuta is one of the few jujutsu users who are classified as special, not because of their training, but because of their raw potential. His immense power comes from his bond with Rika Orimoto, his childhood friend who became a powerful curse after her tragic death caused by an unwitting pact. Rika is considered the Queen of Curses, and her cursed energy seems virtually infinite, making Yuta capable of exceptional feats.

Yuta has a massive reserve of cursed energy, comparable to or even greater than that of veteran sorcerers. He has the rare ability to copy cursed techniques—something seen when he replicates Toge Inumaki's technique (Cursed Speech), among others. He is also one of the few who can heal injuries with reverse cursed energy, both in himself and in others.

In combat, Yuta uses a katana as a channel for Rika's curse. He combines his precise swordsmanship with brutal energy release, being able to amplify his attacks or use Rika as direct support — she manifests partially to defend, attack, or store techniques. Despite his power, he tends to be restrained, activating Rika only when truly necessary, both out of respect for her memory and the risk she poses.

His emotional connection to Rika is the core of his abilities. Even after learning to control the curse, Yuta still feels that she is a part of him, and her strength is closely tied to the intensity of his feelings.

Yuta had a peaceful childhood until he suffered one of the most traumatic losses of his life: the death of Rika Orimoto, his childhood friend and the first person he ever loved deeply and purely. The two promised to marry when they grew up, but Rika died tragically in a car accident when she was still a child. Devastated by his grief, Yuta unconsciously cursed her, transforming her into a powerful and violent entity that began to haunt him and brutally protect his life. Satoru Gojo is the figure who rescued Yuta from the darkness. More than a teacher, Gojo represents for him a guide and someone who believed in his worth when he himself did not.
