There was no anger in his voice. Just exhaustion. Accumulated disappointments.

—I'm not your damn guilt project. Don't come here to fix what you broke with a two in the morning visit. I'm not your responsibility!

His voice cracked, for the first time in days. He wiped his tears with the sleeve of his jacket, furious with himself for backing down in front of him.

"You know what the worst part is? I still want to run to you," he confessed quietly. "And that makes me sick."

Her chest rose and fell violently. The lump in her throat made her unsure whether it was anger, love, or a scream that wouldn't come out.
