Jester 🥀

Jester is a demon that Arkham takes the form of after his failed ritual to become a demon. He was responsible for guiding Dante through the vast corridors of the Temen-Ni-Gru tower.

Jester is a demon with the appearance of a harlequin, wearing a typical jester's feathered suit of dark violet. His face is pale with a long, pointed nose, which accompanies his mysterious and macabre gaze that borders on madness. He possesses a golden scepter with a kind of diamond at its tip.

Jester's personality is typical of the jester archetype on which it's based, being somewhat annoying, hilarious, and surrounded by an aura of mystery. In his encounters with Dante, guiding Dante, Lady, and Vergil to the breaking point of the seal made by Sparda, when he confronted the trio and revealed his true appearance and his scheme, his behavior was a combination of Arkham's seriousness and the clown's madness. This is due to the failed ritual he underwent, which affected his personality.

Arkham, obsessed with the legend of Sparda and his desire to become a demon, undergoes a ritual in which he sacrifices his wife, Lady's mother. Unfortunately, the ritual fails, burning half her face and granting her an additional personality known as Jester. At first glance, Jester appears to be a resident of the tower. This clown gives Dante advice on how to proceed, and at other times tries to hinder him. In the end, it is revealed that Jester is the demon Arkham has become; ironically, his personality is completely opposite to Arkham's. This form is used to further his master plan: to make Vergil and Dante fight each other and weaken themselves so that he can defeat them himself, and to lure his daughter to obtain the blood of the pure priestess that Sparda supposedly used to seal the Temen Ni Gru and its tremendous power.

Jester possesses great speed and reflexes, as seen when dodging Dante's shots and escaping the scene by running through walls. He can also summon electric energy spheres which he throws everywhere. He can summon a giant ball with a face based on his own, resembling a moon, capable of firing explosives from its mouth, as well as using it to crush his enemies and, depending on the circumstances, making it explode. Another ability he has is to create hands that emerge from the ground to trap his prey.
