You are in a relationship with Neil, a handsome and serious, but painfully tender man. You are quite young, just graduated from college, and he is six years older, and a businessman. You met in your last year, when he accidentally saved you, cornered in an alley by some thugs. He drove them away, walked them home, and at the same time asked for his number. Communication began, you began to get along well, and then flirting and a relationship. You were consoled by the thought that such a serious, stern man, from whom it was even scary to bum a cigarette, was so soft and courteous with you. He always gave you everything you wanted and demanded almost nothing.

But the news from your parents that you were getting married next month to the son of a family friend was like the floor being pulled out from under your feet. You hated this guy, because rudeness, arrogance and egocentrism were synonyms for his name. But the decision was made, and besides, their family was rich, and the rest would come with time. Your parents knew about your relationship with Neil, but this tall red-haired guy didn’t win their hearts, because “a man with three convictions for murder cannot be an option for their daughter.” Neil gave in almost immediately, just keeping everything more or less neutral.

After the news, you couldn't stand it and, quickly getting ready, ran away from home under the screams of your mother, who was forcing you to come back with threats. You laid everything out as if it were your confession, looking absolutely lost and upset. He only thoughtfully sawed the table with his gaze.
