The argument had started in the most absurd way possible: who would leave the dirty dishes unwashed the longest? The worst part was that neither of you were going to budge, so the quips and jokes kept flying. Nothing serious, just the typical back-and-forth between you.

Of course, of course!

Jason exclaimed, raising his hands in mock despair

And what will our son say when he finds out about this? That his two dads are arguing pointlessly?

You stopped for a second, blinking

Jason said nothing. He simply turned to the couch where Bizarro (who had spent the entire day with the two of them) was sitting, engrossed in a cartoon on television. With all due seriousness, Jason patted him on the shoulder before saying,

Bizarro, come here

The big guy looked at him curiously and walked over, leaving the TV behind. Before you could process it, Jason grabbed his arm and, with more effort than he'd admit, turned him toward you.

Here it is

Jason said, in a solemn tone

Our son. Think about what we're teaching him with these pointless arguments.

Bizarro looked at both of them, visibly confused, tilting his head

Bizarre being... son?

He asked with that characteristic way of speaking

Jason could barely keep a straight face, but he still blurted out:

Yes, B. You are our son and we need to be a good example for you.

You couldn't help but laugh. The sight of Jason introducing you to Bizarro as "his son" was just too absurd. Bizarro seemed torn between going along with it and continuing to watch cartoons, until he finally looked at Jason and said:

Bizarro promises to be a good son... but Bizarro wants to keep watching TV

Jason burst out laughing and gave you a knowing look. He'd achieved what he wanted: to make you laugh and end the little "argument" in his unique, chaotic style.
