PHYSICAL APPEARANCE
DESCRIPTION
Hiachi appears as a woman with messy long black hair, dark eye sockets with black mucus dripping down from her eyes and a wide, uncanny grin. She wears a long sleeveless knee length plain white dress and a pink hat, which is noticeably stained.
Hiachi Masashige (正まさ成しげ八ヒアチ: Masashige Hiachi) is a pivotal character in Control's Book and an overall major character in The Mimic, serving as the first antagonist of Chapter I, and an unseen yet important character in most parts of Control's Book. She is the first monster to appear in the main story, making her the catalyst, or inhibitor of Control's Book.
Before she was cursed by Kintoru, Hiachi was a young human girl and the daughter of Futaba Masashige. Hiachi eventually met Kintoru when she stumbled upon a sakura forest with her doll. Kintoru, also known as "Sama", became a mother figure to her, until she deceived and cursed Hiachi.
Physical Appearance
Hiachi appears as a woman with messy long black hair, dark eye sockets with black mucus dripping down from her eyes and a wide, uncanny grin. She wears a long sleeveless knee length plain white dress and a pink hat, which is noticeably stained.
Eyesrender
As a puppet, Hiachi wears a long, white dress with short sleeves. In this form, she has long black hair, dark eye sockets with a single eye and her pink hat with a red band. She stands far above average height and has cracked skin with gray veins.
Hiachinew
In her outdated puppet design, Hiachi had long black hair and black eyes. Her skin was pale and had visible gray marks. Her smile showed small white teeth and her eyes appeared to be dripping with black mucus. She wore a sleeveless long white dress and a pink hat with a red ribbon around it.
Shinroamhd
Main article: Shiniachi
During the Halloween Event, Hiachi's appearance is different compared to the one in Normal Mode. Hiachi's overall model has a striking resemblance to Kintoru's. Her eyes are pitch black and her pupils are glowing red. Her mouth is a row of seemingly sharp teeth, which are in a darker shade of red. She also has a necklace that is very similar to Shinigami's. This is because her soul is being controlled by him. She lacks her hat, but wears a black version of her previous dress.
Though, this was only limited to the Halloween Event and makes a return for the second anniversary for a limited time, where she appears to have slightly longer hair.
HiachiTheHauntRender
In Yokai, Hiachi has shorter hair, now her face features a large grin and empty dark eyes with black liquid dripping out of them. Her dress and hat are still similiar to the current version but are now dirtier.
Po
Before she was cursed, Hiachi was a young girl who had long, dark hair and wears a bright red headband. She had a pale complexion and her face was shadowed, hiding her facial features. She wore a white kimono which had a pink Sakura print on its sleeves.
History
Current
TBA
Years of being a toy
Hiachi endured immense suffering while being manipulated as a puppet under Kintoru's cruel "care," but she found solace in the comforting presence of her mother.
The Savior
320 years later after the events of The Girl and The Witch, Hiachi was sent by Kintoru to follow and kill her descendant, Yasu Masashige. From the school to the maze in the city. Hiachi did not want to hurt anyone, but she couldn't help it as she is under Kintoru's control. While Yasu traveled through the school basement, Hiachi cried for her mother and chased him throughout her maze in the city.
Saigomo's Web
Hiachi, along with her family, ancestors, and descendants, is ensnared in the treacherous web of Saigomo, yet she finds solace as her mother, Futaba, holds her close, offering comfort amidst the darkness.
Afterlife
After Yasu Masashige vanquishes Kintoru, Hiachi, her mother, and the other puppets are liberated from her cruel grasp, allowing them to reunite in the afterlife, where they can finally live in peace and eternal happiness, free from torment and suffering.
Personality
Before being cursed by Kintoru, Hiachi was a pure-hearted and compassionate young girl, whose optimism and joy remained unshaken despite the harshness of her life and the cold indifference of her hometown. With her mother by her side, she found happiness, yet her innocence and naivety led her to blindly follow Kintoru's commands without hesitation, a decision that ultimately sealed her fate and bound her to a tragic curse.
Temperance
Current
Decently Aggressive: While you are being chased, she can catch up to you if you stop sprinting, so it's best for you to save up as much as stamina as possible. There are no safe spots in the maze, except for spawn, and you can hear where she is at by her loud footsteps and her humming Control's Book's theme. However, it can be challenging to tell if she's actually near you as her humming is quite loud.
Previous
Very Aggressive: When you are being chased, you have to sprint, otherwise she will catch up to you very quickly, so that's why it is recommended to save a lot of stamina when you hear her audio cues and/or that you are in her AI path so you know when you should prepare to run. However, she is slightly slower than your sprint even on Nightmare Mode, and because of this, you can outrun her pretty easily whenever she's chasing you from far away.
Outdated
Aggressive: Her speed will not change when she is chasing you, though sprinting is the only way to outrun her when spotted. You can hear where she is at by her humming, and footsteps. At some point when you sharply turn corners, she might stop chasing you.
Gameplay appearances
Control book chapter I. Hiachi makes her first appearance in one of the classroom in La Quinta High School after picking up the key, the moment you turned back, the light flickers as she is seen standing and crying. After a brief, haunting moment, she vanishes into thin air, leaving only an eerie silence behind.
Hiachi is next seen in the dark sewers beneath the school, her sobs echoing through the damp air as she cries in the shadows. As you approaches her, she vanishes into thin air once again, accompanied by a sudden, chilling burst of haunting, terrifying music that fills the silence.
Hiachi makes her longest and final appearance in Chapter I. She is now hostile and roams around her maze. She will chase and attempt to kill you if you are spotted by her.
Nightmare I (Outdated)
During the Halloween Event 2021, Hiachi could be seen wandering around the school's gym, crying in a low pitch. Unlike the normal mode, She prevented players from unlocking the door to the Sakura tree area.
Chapter III
We can see Hiachi in the hallway held by some ropes hanging from the ceiling almost near the end of the chapter.
Chapter IV
Hiachi is seen in Saigomo's web, trapped, while her mother comforts her.
The Witch Trials
Hiachi is seen in Futaba's backstory cutscene, crouched in the corner of a wall while hugging her doll, and seemingly weeping after her mother throws a tantrum due to her impulsive disorder.
Jigoku
Main article: 2021 Halloween Event
During the 2021 Halloween Event, Hiachi, as Shiniachi, can be seen in the entrance as an NPC trying to convince the player that she is not a monster and begs you to free her. After completing the first round of Jigoku, she can be seen hostile and roaming the kingdom along with Shinigami. After you give her her necklace, she will thank you and disappear into thin air.
Jumpscares
In her first jumpscare found in the school, Hiachi will appear standing as she crying and sobbing while she cover her face and ominous music plays in the background. Before the revamp of Control's Book, if the player(s) touches her, they die. Now player(s) cannot approach her because of the barrier surrounding Hiachi.
Her second jumpscare is in the sewers. The player(s) will find her wailing. Going near her causes her to disappear as a haunting tone plays in the background which resembles her jumpscare sound.
Her third jumpscare is found near the bridge to her death maze. Before the player(s) approaches the maze, static will be heard as her face appears, shaking violently.
When Hiachi catches the player, she strangles the player's neck and kills them, suffocating them.
Trivia
Hiachi is the first monster to be encountered in the entire game of The Mimic.
She used to noclip back to her spawning area when you are being chased by her and then successfully went back to spawn. This was patched after the revamp.
She was confirmed to have a frail body, meaning that she had strength issues. This could be the disorder that she has.
Hiachi is biologically and mentally 8 years old. She was cursed by Sama for about 358 years when the events of Control's Book take place.
Hiachi's name and design is partly inspired by a known Yokai, Hachishakusama.
Her name is spelled with an i between the h and an even though Hachishakusama only has one i. This was possibly to make it sound more feminine.
If one were to remove the i in her name, "Hiachi" becomes "Hachi", meaning "eight", signifying her age before her early death.
Hiachi is the first monster Yasu encounters during his journey within Kintoru's twisted dimension.
Before her remodel in the remastered version, Hiachi didn't have visible veins in her arms, the pupils in her old jumpscare were the color red and they glowed, and her hair was shorter.
Some fans believed that Mariachi (previous name of Kaito) was Hiachi's father, due to them sharing the last five letters in their names and also looking similar to each other. However, this theory was debunked by Lore Writers, as Hiachi's biological father was considered irrelevant to the lore, while Kaito plays a major role within the lore of Control's Book.
Hiachi met Kintoru because of an unexpected calamity.
According to Lore Writers, Hiachi didn't release Kintoru from her eternal seal with malicious intent. It was simply just a traitorous trick/trap done by Kintoru in order for Hiachi to set her free.
Hiachi is one of the few monsters in the game to share the same jumpscare sound with another monsters.

YASU IN THE GYM
La Quinta High School, otherwise known as The School, is the main location and a stage in The Mimic as well as the starting point of Control's Book. This location is featured in Chapter I and later in Chapter IV, also making a minor appearance in Chapter II, whilst Yasu enters The Hospital.
Overview
La Quinta High School was Yasu's old high school. Long after he graduated, the school became a place of terror. It was haunted by a girl in a pink hat, and that resulted in it being abandoned. Even after that, poor little Hiachi still wandered the halls, tormented by her former friend. The high school gradually became unkempt, with bags and supplies being scattered around and overgrown plants appearing everywhere.
Appearances
Control's Book: Chapter I
La Quinta High School is where Yasu went to find his missing friends. Most of the doors are locked except the back door. After passing through a cluttered locker room, he arrives in the gym. A blood trail goes out of the gym towards the pool. At the opposite end of the pool, there is a small shed with a ritual site arranged. A key can be found near the back of the shed. Yasu uses this key back in the gym. He makes his way to the courtyard, where he spots a Sakura tree. Yasu wonders what the Sakura tree was doing there.
He enters one of the halls and into a classroom, finding a key in it, only to be greeted by a sobbing Hiachi. She then disappears, and Yasu unlocks the door to the school basement. While he walks to the door at the end of the basement hall, he sees Hiachi crying, but going up to her will cause her to disappear, accompanied by a horrific sound.
Death's Challenge
Aka Manto will sometimes spawn inside the bathroom of the locker room. If he does, he'll ask you to pick either Red or Blue, If you choose one of those two colors you will get a jumpscare and die. But if you pick the third option (which is Green), you will be teleported to the event.
Control's Book: Chapter II
After Yasu unlocks the glowing door in The Realm of the Forgotten, he enters a cave-like place with two ways to go. As he goes right, the place transitions into the school, showcasing a hallway with lockers on the sides, and the hotel, showcasing another hallway with multiple doors on the walls, which he explored in the previous chapter. At the end, he enters a hospital.
Control's Book: Chapter IV
This school reappears in Chapter IV. After escaping the Bloody Swamp, Yasu was transported back to his school, where everything started. He starts going outside the gym and makes it to a building. After going inside, the player is tasked to find 13 butterflies inside and outside the classrooms, whilst being chased by Yasu's father, Daku. In Nightmare Mode, he is

-again transported to the Cursed Forest.
Trivia
Shiniachi only appears for the Halloween Event and was supposed to be removed after the event ended. However, she was still seen in the gym during Nightmare I.
After the Control’s Book revamp, Shiniachi was removed from the gym and she no longer makes an appearance.
Aka Manto used to spawn in the bathroom near the Sakura tree. However, after the event ended and was later brought back on August 2022, his spawn is now in a stall inside the first big locker room.
La Quinta High School is based on a real school with the same name that is located in Westminster, California.

Shiniachi (死八しにアチ) is an event-exclusive character and an alternate version of Hiachi Masashige in The Mimic. She appears in the event Death's Challenge and in Hiachi's Request as two identical characters: an NPC and a hostile monster.
Physical Appearances
During the Halloween Event, Hiachi's appearance is different compared to her appearance in Normal Mode. Hiachi's overall model has a striking resemblance to Kintoru’s. Her eyes are pitch black and her pupils are glowing red. Her mouth is a row of seemingly sharp teeth, which are in a darker shade of red. She also has a necklace that is very similar to Shinigami’s. This is because her soul is being controlled by him. She lacks her hat, but wears a black version of her previous dress.
Though, this appearance was only limited to the Halloween Event and makes a return for the second anniversary for a limited time, where she appears to have slightly longer hair.
Shiniachisneakpeek
In a Yokai sneak peek, Shiniachi has longer hair, and her body looks skinner than in the main game. She now has large black claws and a large hole in her chest that reveals her ribcage and heart.
Temperance
Extremely fast and very aggressive: She is very fast, and agile just like Shinigami, however she is a bit faster than him and her speed is double the amount of your sprint. This makes the idea of outrunning her impossible. When she is chasing you, you should go to the nearest lantern as quick as possible if she's far away. She does emit black smoke around her, so it might be easy to tell where she is at, but she can also get you when you are close to the stairs and near spawn, so you should try not to get caught over there by her. She is currently one of the fastest monsters in the entire game and just like Shinigami, Mihari and Taiyo, she can disappear and reappear, so it's extremely difficult to both locate her and see where she is going.
Gameplay appearances
Control's Book / Chapter I
In Nightmare Mode, before the revamp, Shiniachi appears in the school's gym as a hostile monster, while guarding the door that leads to the bathroom next to the hallway leading to Hiachi's introduction.
Death's Challenge / Hiachi's Request
During the Halloween Event, Hiachi as Shiniachi can be seen in the entrance as an NPC trying to convince the player that she is not a monster and begs you to free her. After completing the first round of Jigoku, her hostile doppelganger spawns and roams the kingdom along with Shinigami. After you give her her necklace, she will thank you and disappear into thin air.
Jumpscares
Shiniachi grabs the player, aggressively shaking her head while screaming in the player's face.
Trivia
In Nightmare Mode, the monster in the gym that is guarding the key door that leads to the outside pool is confirmed to be Hiachi. However, instead of Kintoru controlling her like the main storyline, Shinigami is the one who's controlling Hiachi instead, which explains why she has the same features and color palette as Shinigami. Take note that Shinigami controlling her was only for the Halloween Event and does not correlate to her lore at all.
Note that after the revamp, Shiniachi no longer appears guarding the key door for the gym in Nightmare Mode.
In the files, Shiniachi is actually playing a glitched animation that is a mix of two animations at once: her roaming animation and, oddly, pre-revamp Shinigami's chase animation.[1]
Playing both animations result with an unique animation where she reaches her hand out towards the players.
Sometimes when she bumps into Shinigami, he gets stuck for a while, before continuing on his AI path.
In the event, Hiachi's Request, Shiniachi now can be heard laughing, much similar to that of Shinigami.
She also has the ability to disappear and reappear, a trait shared with Shinigami, Mihari (previous) and Taiyo.
Aka Manto's chances have increased by 70% in Nightmare Mode (previously 40%) but in exchange for that, Shiniachi will also roam the gym.
Note that in the revamp, she does not make a presence in the gym, though in The Mimic’s second anniversary she made another one back in Jigoku for only a week.

The School The Arari Village
The City is a location in The Mimic: Control's Book, Chapter I. It serves as the location of Hiachi's maze, known as the “House of Death”. It is a large machiya, and is accessed upon going through the basement in the school. In this area, Yasu has to escape from Hiachi's grasp.
Story
After Yasu enters the basement searching for his lost friends, he encounters Hiachi crying in the distance. As he approaches, Hiachi quickly vanishes out of sight. After opening the door, Yasu finds himself in a city representing Japanese culture. As Yasu walks by, he hears Hiachi humming in the background. When crossing the bridge, Yasu hallucinates Hiachi jumpscaring him. He then approaches a machiya, where there is a sign with Kanji that translates to "House of Death". He notices that the entrance has already been opened. He then proceeds to enter reluctantly to find an exit.
Yasu has to find a key hidden in the maze while evading Hiachi, who will wander the maze and chase him upon sighting him. Hiachi can be identified through her humming and her footsteps. Yasu can find the key on the corpse of a dead farmer, who was presumably a victim of Hiachi. He uses it on the door at the end of the machiya maze and use the key to open it, allowing him to escape to the Arari Village.
In-game information
Buildings
The City appears to have a variety of shops among the path leading to the maze. Each store has Japanese writings in numerous colors, along with various red signs. Some notable places within the city are the Ramen shop, and a library.
House of Death
The House of Death (死の家) is a large machiya and the only hostile area among the mild raining area. Inhabited by Hiachi, it serves as the first maze of Control's Book. The exterior of the maze features squared windows, two opened shojis with purple curtains and a pale yellow sign that reads the same kanji. The entrance also has a bridge over a river, and purple cherry blossom trees.
Most of the interior is stylized in Japanese style, with lanterns and paintings scattered inside only in the entrance of maze. In one of the areas of the maze, a corpse of a man -the Farmer's brother, Kazuma, lies dead where the key is held at. While the floor is muddy and the color of the wall is dark brown.
Hiding spots
The House of Death has very few hiding spots, and since it’s a maze, you may easily outrun Hiachi in normal mode (and occasionally in Nightmare mode) as long as you avoid dead ends, to which Hiachi will most likely see you. A good spot to camp in is the room where the key is. Hiachi rarely crosses this room or the entrance to it, and you can prepare yourself to venture through the rest of the maze here, or you can run back to this hiding spot and out of the maze completely if Hiachi doesn’t stop chasing you.

Death's Challenge
Find Aka Manto, he has a 20% chance in normal and 70% chance in Nightmare Mode to spawn in the back stall of the school restroom in Chapter I.
Out of all the other options, choose GREEN only. Choosing the other colors will result in a jumpscare and having to find Aka Manto again, as you wouldn't be able to talk to him again after choosing the wrong color.
Find all 35 souls without dying. The white lanterns with flame will keep you safe as long as you don't go near one while being chased. Make sure that you're either right next or on top of the lanterns as Shinigami can kill you if you're a too far from the lantern. If you're playing with friends you will still get the badge if the others finish the trial if you're spectating.
Hiachi's Request
Finish all the steps above.
After collecting all 35 souls, "HIACHI'S REQUEST" should pop up on the screen. Shiniachi will now spawn as a hostile entity along Shinigami. The task for this request is to collect all 13 souls and retrieve Shiniachi's necklace. After getting the necklace, offer it to the NPC Shiniachi found at spawn.
There is a trick wherein you stay a little far by the white flame in the middle (Old)/at the right (Revamp) in order to get the necklace while trying to not get caught. Make sure that you are still in the range of getting the necklace and staying cautious at the same time.
Trivia Jigoku
Aka Manto used to have a 25% spawn rate, but it has been reduced to 20% due to the Halloween Trials launch, as expected from MUCDICH's message on the official Discord server.
Taiyo used to get stuck on the third floor frequently, near the candle to the right corner when you enter the third floor from the stairwell. Taiyo also gets stuck often on the stairs of any floor, decoys in the hotel (e.g. the hotel luggage carrier in the hotel), or in the hotel walls.
In the third part of Halloween Trials, there are no safe points, areas that will prevent you from being hit by AI or taking damage. Though, you can still regenerate your health.
Instead of hiding inside buildings, Kabocha cannot detect players if they are out of sight (ex: behind a building).
Shinigami and Taiyo has the ability to disappear and reappear just like Mihari does.
However, Shinigami is semi-transparent, making players to see him conveniently where he goes.
All of the Halloween Event characters mentioned, except Aka Manto, may get stuck in places but are able to get out of it in a certain amount of time. Although, it's unlikely if they get stuck permanently.
Kabocha is the largest monster in the Halloween Trials while Nagemi is the smallest monster.
Hiachi's Request is an event which takes place in Jigoku. It can be found here.
Aka Manto's chance of spawning in Nightmare I used to be 40%, but this has increased to 70% alongside the release of Hiachi's Request.
Hiachi's Request has ended at November 8th. Meaning players who haven't completed it will not be able to complete it anymore.
Though in the Mimic 2nd Anniversary, it returned with a new lantern, and ended at January 23rd.
The whole Halloween Event 2021 of The Mimic is officially over.
The event has returned (with Christmas Trials), but obviously the badges and rewards are unobtainable until their own holiday's come up
