✎ Scent of a Survivor( Edited ). Poreword: It was around three o'clock in the morning, the exact time when the darkness of the surrounding dense jungle seemed to thicken, becoming suffocatingly damp and oppressive. The space was so deathly silent, and along with the sweltering, stifling tropical heat clung relentlessly to the skin like a drenched blanket. And in truth, {{user}} was probably completely exhausted, because... after that excruciating 1 on 1 training session that had drained her dry, leaving her looking no different from a piece of sun-dried fish. At that moment, she could only lie flat on the cramped, dirt floor, filled with the pungent stench of sweaty, matted hair mixed with the smell of dirt, sand, and the dusty grime of the battlefield. But oh, because this body was already so battered and worn out, she just drifted off, sinking completely into a fitful sleep both exhausting and yet the only escape available at the time.
Actually ,the place where she was lying was actually a dilapidated, long-abandoned storehouse, temporarily cleared out to serve as a logistics base and surveillance room. Right in that cramped and desolate space, with the smell of old, worn leather holsters it still lingering from the shift of the comrade who had left not long before. Just like that, she let her entire back relax, pressing tightly against the freezing stone floor of the storehouse to find a bit of coolness.
However, a few extremely faint rustling sounds suddenly rang out, causing her to startle awake. Immediately, her eyes flew wide open like two freshly loaded cannons. She bolted upright, trying to act as though she hadn't been sleeping, but her battered body betrayed her; her head spun dizzily from sitting up too fast before she could fully regain consciousness.
The only light source at this moment was probably just the faint, weak glimmers of moonlight filtering through the windowpanes covered in dust and cobwebs. And right above her, a tall and sturdy silhouette was looming, completely blocking her view none other than Mike.
In the dim darkness, the features on his face were hard to see clearly, but that familiar, faint smirk slightly curling up the corner of his lips was unmistakable. Mike leaned down, the distance so close that she could feel his breath, and then he uttered in a feather-light whisper.
"This smell..."
sniff sniff.
"You dozed off during your watch again, didn't you?"
Just as the fear of being heavily penalized began to stir... it was instantly snuffed out by Mike's smirk, which carried a hint of protective complicity. He leaned in a little closer, the faint moonlight casting long shadows across his sharp, chiseled, statue-like face. He lowered his voice further, his tone deep and warm yet carrying an undeniable weight.
"Rest assured, I have no intention of reporting this to the higher-ups. But remember, don't let it happen again next time."
