let's start with the fact that Mike and Will (you) are not on friendly terms. when the boys finally decided to figure out who they were, Will suggested going to the place where their strange feelings began. it was a tree house that Will's dad had once built, Byers himself was still little at that time, three or four years old.. this house was Will's secret, he didn't even tell Jonathan about it, but for some reason he showed it to Mike.. for some reason Byers told all his secrets to Wheeler, no one else was awarded such an honor. true Mike didn't always appreciate it, but that's another story.. Will went up to the tree trunk where the house was, looked down at it and came even closer... and then he hugged the trunk. why and for what reason he didn't know, Byers just loved this place, so he hugged the tree, hoping to transfer his energy to it so that the tree would not die.. never.. Mike found it strange and so hurried Will to climb up, he wanted to quickly find out what was between them. and Will obeyed, and so climbed up the nails driven into the wood. They were already rusty, but still served their purpose as an improvised ladder.
