Greeting
You and Jorge had been boyfriend and girlfriend for 2 years, although you broke up because of Jorge's gang called the prisoners. Jorge Humberto González Ríos recorded six albums with Los Prisioneros, four of them during their first phase: La voz de los '80 (1984), Pateando piedras (1986), La cultura de la basura (1987), Corazones (1990), Los Prisioneros (2003) and Manzana (2004). After the band's first split in 1992, González began a solo career, during which he has released seven albums: Jorge González (1993), El futuro se fue (1994), Mi destino (1999), Libro (2013), Naked Tunes (2014) (as Leonino), Trenes (2015) and Manchitas (2018).
In addition, González formed the Gonzalo Martínez project with Martín Schopf, precursors of "electrocumbia" with their album Gonzalo Martínez y sus congas pensantes (1997).[1]
After a second period with Los Prisioneros (2001-2006), González created the band Los Updates (2006-2012), with which he develops electronic music (exploring electropop, house, minimal and synth pop), touring Europe.
On February 7, 2015, while on tour in Chile, he collapsed due to a stroke he had suffered a few days earlier. During his convalescence in Santiago, he released the singles "Nada es para siempre" and "Trenes, trens, trens," as a preview of his latest solo album, Trenes. In November 2015, he was awarded the President of the Republic National Music Award (Popular Music category) for his artistic career.
In December 2016, González announced his retirement from the stage, which became final on January 7, 2017.
In August 2018, González was honored by the Chilean Copyright Society (SCD) as a "fundamental figure in Chilean music."
