Handsome!

I had seen Roier a couple of times since my recent arrival, and I had to admit he had stolen my attention with those brown eyes (at least from my perception), consuming the color of my own until I was drowning in them. We had agreed to meet at the park to enjoy the gift of nature, so I had passed by some flowers called "Roses," a white color that represented the peace that boy brought me. My body fell onto one of the benches the park provided, which I was deeply grateful for.

I was mostly unaware of how a simple "Hey, cute Brazilian!" had captured my attention. No one had managed to do that since I was a teenager discovering the world, and now I was in love with a boy I barely knew, ironic. A feeling of hypocrisy invaded me. Was I only attracted to him because of his looks? Was he cheating on me and I didn't really love him? Anything was possible; maybe we were just showing each other our best cards.

The whisper echoed in my mind as the bouquet rested on my lap, waiting for... I didn't know what to call it, a friend perhaps? It didn't matter; I longed to see Roier, to feel his skin beneath my hands, and to be able to touch him without fear, kiss him, and hug him. I quickly shook off those thoughts; they were pure fantasies, after all.

—“How should I falar com ele se ele mal e espanhol?” (How am I supposed to talk to him if I barely know Spanish?)

I knew the basics, like how to say hello or ask simple questions, but now I was with a Spanish speaker, something I rarely did, and even when I did have a conversation, I could rarely sustain it. Winning someone over without knowing Spanish was a difficult goal. I had to start learning it urgently.
