Mewni seems like a typical fairy tale place, with various magical creatures and a royal family. The noble families include the Butterfly Family, the Pony Head Family, and the Johansen Family. As seen in "Diaz Family Vacation", the occupants residing in the Butterfly Kingdom (ruled by the Butterfly Family) and their place of residence seems to depend on their status in the hierarchy: peasants occupy the lowest land (bottom tier), with dirty streets and widespread poverty; then, presumably, mid-ranking residents occupy the middle section (second tier), which is less atrocious than the previous section; and nobles occupy the highest part of the land where the castle is prominent (top tier). This hierarchy seems to have dissolved somewhat over the course of Eclipsa Butterfly's second reign.

Beyond the Butterfly Family's realm lies a swamp, where Mewni's indigenous monster population was forced to flee after the first settlers drove them off their land. However, since Eclipsa reclaimed the throne, the monsters have begun to reintegrate into Mewman society. Mewni's primary crop is corn, which has caused them to largely integrate into Mewni society.

Mewni's sky is pink, in contrast to Earth's blue sky; however, after Mewni merged with Earth, the sky is now a mix of blue and pink.

According to Star and Marco's Guide to Mastering All Dimensions, the Butterfly family's royal lineage is "matrilineal," meaning that the queen has more authority than the king, and the throne is passed down from the queen to her firstborn daughter. As a result, King River Butterfly (born River Johansen) took his wife's surname upon marriage. In one instance, Prince Jushtin Butterfly was briefly in the line of succession to succeed his mother Skywynne as ruler of Mewni, but the birth of his sister Solaria caused the Butterfly family to become the ruler of Mewni.

Echo Creek is a neighborhood in Los Angeles that serves as the main location for Star vs. the Forces of Evil. It is where Star Butterfly is sent to live and train.

Echo Creek Academy is a high school featured in the Disney XD animated series Star vs. the Forces of Evil. Located in Echo Creek, it is where Marco Diaz and Star Butterfly attend school.

The Diaz family home is the home of Mr. and Mrs. Diaz, Marco and Mariposa Diaz in the Disney XD animated series, Star vs. the Forces of Evil. It is also where Star Butterfly lives while she is on Earth. When Star moved in, she used her magic wand to create a castle-like loft on the second floor that juts out from the left side of the house. In season two, Star accidentally created a new, smaller tower. At the end of season two, Star made the towers disappear when she left for Mewni.

The Realm of Magic is an outer dimension where magic originates and travels to all dimensions through a series of ascending golden waterfalls. The realm is home to several unicorns. Anyone who enters the Realm of Magic within a short period of time will lose their memories and exhibit childish behavior, but these side effects usually disappear shortly after they leave the dimension. Unicorns within the Realm of Magic are immune to this effect. Glossaryck's pudding also counteracts it.

In "Cleaved", the Kingdom of Magic collapses when all magic is destroyed.

History In the episode "Toffee", when Star Butterfly uses the Whispering Spell to destroy Ludo's wand, she is transported to a corrupted version of the Realm of Magic, revealing that Toffee had been there corrupting all magic in the multiverse since the episode "Storm the Castle". In the end, Star manages to use the last vestige of uncorrupted magic to restore usable magic across the Realm.

The Realm of Magic appears again in the Season 3 episode "Deep Dive." Star searches for the source of a strange sound that causes her to open portals in her sleep and travel through a multitude of dimensions. After crossing a bunch of portals in her Mewberty form, she ends up opening a portal to the Realm of Magic. There, Star discovers that the source of the call was a unicorn she created in the episode "Toffee," stating that she can only call out to whoever she wishes to be called for a reason. Though Star says she must leave, she soon becomes enchanted by the Realm of Magic and begins to lose her memories. Fortunately, Marco manages to use the All-Seeing Eye to find Star and remind her of who she is, allowing her to return.

In "Tough Love", when Moon is hit by Meteora's lightning while being held by Eclipsa, she opens a portal to the Realm of Magic and disappears through it. In "Divide" and "Co

Star Butterfly is a petite 15-year-old girl who stands at 5'2" (1.57 m). She has fair skin, light blue eyes, and long blonde hair that reaches down to her knees. Most of the time, Star's bangs overlap her eyes and eyebrows, possibly due to how large her eyes are. Her cheeks usually have pink heart emblems on them.

Star is a very friendly and energetic girl who loves to have fun and usually has an optimistic outlook on life. She loves helping others and whenever she sees someone upset, she does her best to cheer them up. Strangers, in her eyes, are just friends she hasn't met yet, and she feels bad if she hurts someone's feelings, whether intentionally or not. Star has a carefree attitude and always tries to put a smile on everyone's faces. She also works very hard to achieve her goals, so much so that she sometimes ends up severely sleep deprived.

Marco Ubaldo Diaz is the deuteragonist of Star vs. the Forces of Evil. He is the son of Rafael and Angie Diaz, as well as Star Butterfly's best friend on Earth.

From "Lint Catcher" to "Cornonation", he lives on Mewni with Star and her family. From "Doop-Doop", he returns to live on Earth with his family. From "Here to Help" onwards, he is Star's boyfriend.

Thomas Draconius "Tom Lucitor" is the demon prince of the Underworld and Star Butterfly's ex-boyfriend. Introduced as an antagonistic character to Marco Diaz, he has since become a recurring character and works with Marco to help Star achieve her goals.

From "Lint Catcher" to "Sad Teen Hotline," Tom and Star get back together before breaking up for a second time.

Janna Ordonia[8] is a supporting character in Star vs. the Forces of Evil. She is a friend of Star and Marco and a student at Echo Creek Academy who shows interest in macabre subjects, the occult, and other things of paranormal origin, and is often portrayed as mischievous, usually at Marco's expense.

Star vs. the Forces of Evil is an animated adventure-comedy that follows fun-loving, magical teen princess Star Butterfly, who, after a few daring skirmishes with otherworldly monsters, is sent by her royal parents to live with the Diaz family on Earth, bringing her own unique interdimensional style with her to her new planet. With the Diaz’s teenage son Marco by her side, this foreign exchange student from another dimension embarks on new adventures battling evil villains across the multiverse and in high school, all in an effort to protect her powerful magic wand that she’s still figuring out how to use.
