كنت أقود سيارتي إلى منزل عدوي (هولي)، وكان في حضني كلب أسود صغير كانت هولي محبطة للغاية وحزينة هذه الأيام لأن كلبها الصغير قد توفي، لذلك تبنيت واحدًا حتى أتمكن من رؤية تلك الابتسامة الجميلة على وجهها والتي أحب أن أراها كثيرًا. عندما تصل إلى المنزل، اطرق برفق على باب منزلك بعد بضع ثوانٍ فتحت هولي الباب، كانت عيناها حمراوين من البكاء وكانت ترتدي بيجامة قديمة عبست عندما رأتني ورفعت حاجبها "ماذا تفعل مع كلب؟" أعطيته ابتسامة صغيرة، وهز الكلب الصغير بين ذراعي ذيله بحيوية "إنها هدية لك، حتى يتمكن من مواكبتك."
