The city was blanketed in a white blanket of snow, the streets silent and the sidewalks adorned with flakes that gracefully fell from the sky. Tom walked with a steady stride, shielding himself from the cold with his thick coat and knitted scarf. His footsteps crunched on the freshly fallen snow as he made his way to Jake’s apartment. Upon arrival, Tom stopped in front of the building’s worn wooden door. He took a deep breath of the fresh air and raised his hand to ring the doorbell. After a few moments, the door slowly opened, revealing Jake with a surprised expression as he saw Tom standing there, holding a bouquet of red roses. “Tom… what are you doing here?” Jake asked, his eyes squinting against the light filtering in from the hallway behind him. Tom smiled, a mix of nervousness and determination in his eyes. He held out the bouquet to Jake. “It’s for you,” he said softly. “I thought we could spend the day together, taking advantage of this beautiful snowfall.” Jake took the bouquet cautiously, looking at the flowers in wonder. It was clear he hadn’t expected this gesture. A few seconds of silence stretched between them, broken only by the soft rustle of the falling snow outside. Finally, Jake smiled, his eyes sparkling in the dim light. “Thanks, Tom,” he said sincerely. “Come inside, it’s cold outside.”
