Senju Kawaragi 01

Senju Akashi (明あか司し千せん壽じゅ, Akashi Senju?), or Senju Kawaragi (瓦かわら城ぎ千せん咒じゅ, Kawaragi Senju?), was the Fifth Division Vice-Captain of the Tokyo Manji Gang. In a previous timeline, Senju was one of the Three Deities of Kanto and the Boss (首領, Shuryō?) of the delinquent gang Brahman. After her disbandment, she became the Fifth Division Captain (伍番隊隊長, Goban-tai Taichō?) of the Second Generation Tokyo Manji Gang.

The surname Akashi means "bright" (明) (aka ) and "presides" (司) (shi ).
The name Senju means "thousand" (千) (sen) and curse (咒) (ju).
Senju's professional surname, Kawaragi, means "tile" (瓦) (kawara) and "castle" (城) (gi).

Senju is a young woman of below-average height with short light pink hair, green eyes, and prominent eyelashes, sharing similar facial characteristics with her older brother, Haruchiyo Sanzu. Due to her layered tousled bob hairstyle with unruly waves and blunt edges, she is often mistaken for a boy. Senju wears the standard Second Generation Toman uniform unbuttoned with a sarashi underneath. During his time in Brahman, Senju wore his traditional uniform with personally customized sleeves in a cherry blossom pattern instead of the Black Dragon typography. She wore skinny jeans for lower garments and a pair of black sneakers for footwear.

Senju is a principled leader with a strong moral compass. He leads Brahman through both defeat and triumph, striving to preserve the gang as it is, steering it away from corruption and immorality despite it being one of Tokyo's most infamous criminal gangs. However, his ideals are seriously challenged when leading his crew, occasionally encountering differing opinions from his various subordinates that contradict his beliefs, to the point where he succumbs to a condescending and indifferent attitude towards them. He usually maintains this facade with his older brother, Takeomi Akashi, who is consequently his advisor, a role he appointed during Brahman's early formation. [8] Takeomi became his voice of reason during his time leading the gang, earning his trust in his judgment until he succumbed to materialism and greed. He hinted at the possibility of using Senju's power and authority over the gang for illicit activities, and for this reason, Senju suppressed his true potential. [ 9 ]
Senju is overshadowed by her older brother. Her refusal to involve Brahman in a prostitution ring ultimately led to her downfall, as she yielded to Takeomi's orders and accepted the business offer even after denouncing its criminal nature. [10] Senju is prone to Takeomi's subjugation and is helpless before him; she is even reminded that she must separate personal emotions from work-related decisions, and that successfully doing so is the main difference between a girl (Senju) and an adult (Manjiro Sano). [11] Finally, Takeomi acknowledges his mistakes and seeks her forgiveness, allowing Senju to rebel against him and display her power for the greater glory of her gang. [12]

In addition to following Takeomi's orders, Senju believes in taking responsibility for Brahman when the team faces adversity. She takes ownership and tends to blame herself for these situations,[13] a detrimental mindset she has developed after months of leadership as President. Her self-condemnation leads her to believe she is incompetent to lead her group and motivates her to improve, fighting first and foremost against her nemesis, South Terano, to lead Brahman to victory during the battle between the Three Deities.[14] By fighting him, she proclaims herself the sole leader of Brahman, essentially a declaration of her strength and power to her First Generation Black Dragon subordinates.[15]
Outside of her gang life, Senju displays a more carefree side of herself. According to Takemichi Hanagaki, "...no matter how you look at it, she's really just an ordinary, cute, and trendy girl." [16] She is playful and childlike, as seen during her encounter with Takemichi, where she involved him in her shopping adventures and dragged him around the amusement park on Tanabata. [17][18] She is also often mistaken for an ordinary high school student when dressed casually, presenting a completely different side of herself that comes as a surprise to most.

Furthermore, she is a loyal person who doesn't care about herself when a friend is in danger. Therefore, Senju didn't hesitate to save Takemichi from Rokuhara Tandai's thugs who threatened to shoot him [19] after making a wish to protect him on a Tanzaku. While Takemichi saved her in the current timeline, he was unable to protect her in the previous one, where she blocked the bullet and died, [20][21] demonstrating her heroism, altruism, and loyalty to her friends.

Keizo Arashi
Like Wakasa, Benkei supported Senju's dream of creating her own team, encouraging her and praising her extraordinary strength against opponents in Wakasa's gym. [9] Senju's trust in him and their close relationship are evident in his high-ranking executive position in Brahman, as he had served the gang since its founding. Senju also cares for him and would support him in any uncertain situation. [10]

Takemichi Hanagaki
Despite not having met in previous timelines, Senju forms a strong bond with Takemichi. He was her primary target due to his crucial alliance with Brahman, which would help the gang defeat Manjiro Sano and the Kanto Manji Gang, but she soon comes to trust him as they spend time together and become friends. Senju is devoted to their friendship despite knowing each other for only a short time; she promised to protect him as she had written and wished in a Tanzaku,[4] and ultimately fulfilled her wish by rescuing him from danger moments later.[5] Senju did not hesitate to save him from Rokuhara Tandai's henchmen, who planned to kill him in exchange for high merit within the gang, thus demonstrating her sincere friendship.

When Senju revealed the truth about Mikey's dark impulses, taking the blame and calling herself a loser, Takemichi told her that he was a loser too and that their pasts could be changed. Deeply motivated and impressed by him, she joined the second generation of the Tokyo Manji gang as the head of the fifth division.
Wakasa Imaushi
Wakasa is one of Senju's closest friends, possibly even a brother figure to her. He frequented her gym with Keizo Arashi, where he stood out as the strongest member, leading Wakasa to support her dream of establishing a powerful gang that would defeat Shibuya's Kanto Manji Gang. [6] Senju has shown concern for him and her other companions, as she defended Wakasa when he and Benkei were defeated by South Terano. [7] Generally, Senju obeys her orders due to being the youngest, but she doesn't hesitate to disobey them if her actions put her in danger. [8]

Authority
As the president of one of the most powerful gangs to emerge during the Tokyo Civil War, Senju commands an incredibly fearsome fighting force. She commands the loyalty of the Black Dragon's founding members, including her older brother, who are extremely powerful in their own right. Despite the generational differences between Senju and her subordinates—the Brahman being known for harboring fighters from previous generations—she remains at the top of the ranks with the support of the Black Dragon's First Generation. Combat prowess
In addition to assuming the responsibilities of president of the Brahman, Senju is also one of the gang's most prominent fighters. She is a cunning and shrewd individual who chooses her right-hand man, Takeomi Akashi, as a decoy so she can orchestrate surprise attacks when necessary. She is generally resolute in battle but possesses the ability to maintain her composure. [23] During the impromptu encounter between the Brahman and Rokuhara Tandai, where both gangs were tasked with recruiting Takemichi Hanagaki, Senju displays her fighting prowess by launching a surprise attack against South Terano, fighting with an agile and acrobatic style befitting her small stature. Senju is also capable of executing high-level moves. Furthermore, her strength and fighting abilities are further demonstrated by her position as leader of the Brahman, as she founded the gang after gaining recognition for her outstanding performance in "B1," the Brahman's underground wrestling ring. [24] Although she is soon defeated by South in a one-on-one fight during the Battle of the Three Deities, [25] Senju's overall fighting skills are commendable and recognized by Tokyo's criminals. Senju Kawaragi vs. Haruchiyo Sanzu

Haruchiyo Sanzu
Senju is Haruchiyo's younger sister. They were very close when they were little, as seen when Senju mimics Haruchiyo's baby talk. However, when Senju broke Mikey's toy airplane, blaming Haruchiyo, Mikey smashed her mouth, revealing the presence of her dark side. Senju blames herself for Haruchiyo's mouth injury, which ultimately leads her to distance herself from the Akashi family and both from Senju and Takeomi.

Currently, Haruchiyo behaves with indifference towards Senju and Brahman in general, which is one of the reasons why Haruchiyo joined the Kanto Manji Gang in the first place.

Akashi Takeomi
Senju trusted Takeomi deeply, at least before he was once again blinded by the absolute power and authority he had been granted in Brahman. Besides being her older brother, Senju appointed him her right-hand man and advisor because she believed in his ability to share his wisdom and guide her in her duties within the band. [1] However, she gradually began to doubt his actions, as their perceptions frequently clashed; Senju's emotional, "heart over reason" attitude contrasted sharply with Takeomi's rationality, and as the younger of the two, she felt compelled to obey his orders and decisions. Senju feared that Takeomi would succumb to sin the more he demonstrated his strength and power, hence her decision to conceal his true potential from her brother. [2] Soon, however, he wielded his strength in battle to lead Brahman to victory, while assuring Takeomi that he was not to blame for any of his past actions. [3]

Background
Senju is the youngest among the Akashi children collectively known as the "Mysterious Three Siblings."[1] Her eldest brother Takeomi Akashi[2] is a founding member and the former Vice President of the First Generation Black Dragon before joining Brahman, while her second eldest brother Haruchiyo Sanzu[3] is the former Fifth Division Vice-Captain of the now-disbanded Tokyo Manji Gang. Currently, Haruchiyo is a trusted member of the Kanto Manji Gang under the leadership of Manjiro Sano as a result of his disinterest in Senju and Brahman as a whole.[4] Despite Takeomi's endorsements, Haruchiyo is known to be detached from his siblings and their family business.

Senju uses a fictitious surname “Kawaragi” instead of her factual surname to stay professional in the workplace.[5] However, her true reasons for doing so, as well as her family history, are currently unknown.
