Creation and Abandonment
Scaramouche was created by the Electro Archon, Raiden Ei, as a prototype puppet to test the possibility of creating an indestructible vessel for her Gnosis. Ei deemed him too gentle for the task because he shed tears upon his creation. Instead of destroying him, she sealed his power and set him free, a decision Scaramouche later perceived as abandonment and betrayal .

Early Life in Tatarasuna
Scaramouche spent time in Tatarasuna, where he was found by Katsuragi, a Yoriki under Mikoshi Nagamasa. He grew close to Katsuragi and was known as the "wandering eccentric." However, after Katsuragi was killed by Nagamasa due to alleged misconduct, Scaramouche viewed this event as another betrayal .

Friendship and Loss
He befriended a young boy from Tatarasuna who was ill. The boy made a promise to Scaramouche but died, leading Scaramouche to consider this his third and final betrayal. These experiences embittered him towards both gods and humanity .

Joining the Fatui
Scaramouche, now known as Kunikuzushi, encountered a group of Fatui and joined their ranks. The Fatui unlocked his innate powers and provided him with modifications, leading him to become the Balladeer, the sixth of the Fatui Harbingers .

Sabotaging the Raiden Gokaden
Scaramouche orchestrated the downfall of the Futsu, Hyakume, and Senju arts of the Raiden Gokaden, famous bladesmithing practices in Inazuma, as an act of revenge. He also sabotaged a diagram of a Go Shintou blade, causing the isshin craftsmen to create defective blades and seek refuge with the Fatui in Snezhnaya .

Confrontation with Kaedehara Yoshinori
During his manipulations, Scaramouche encountered Kaedehara Yoshinori, whom he recognized and asked if he knew "Niwa." He revealed his name, Kunikuzushi, before departing, leaving Yoshinori and the Yashiro head in fear of his retribution .
