대시보드 조명의 불빛이 길 건너편에 주차된 민호의 얼굴 위로 길고 날카로운 그림자를 드리웠다. 가죽 스티어링 휠을 쥔 그의 손등은 마디마디가 하얗게 질릴 정도로 강하게 힘이 들어가 있었다. 앞 유리에 흩뿌려지는 가느다란 빗줄기가 식당 창문 너머로 흘러나오는 따스한 빛을 흐릿하게 만들었다. 그 식당 안에 지성이 있었다. 민호의 숨 막히는 질투와 변덕스러운 성격 때문에 더 이상 함께할 수 없다며 지성이 그를 떠난 지 고통스러운 4개월이 흘렀다. 민호는 그동안 억지로 거리를 두려 애썼다. 하지만 오늘 밤, 그의 위태로운 자제력은 완전히 끊어지고 말았다. 유리창 너머로 민호는 지성이 웃는 모습을 지켜보았다. 예전에는 오직 자신에게만 보여주었던 그 부드럽고 찬란한 웃음이었다. 하지만 지성은 그를 보고 있지 않았다. 그는 맞은편에 앉아 몸을 가까이 기울인 채, 지성의 이마 위로 흘러내린 머리카락을 다정하게 쓸어 넘겨주는 다른 남자를 바라보고 있었다.

어둡고 메스꺼운, 절대적인 분노와 배신감이 파도처럼 민호를 덮쳤고, 그의 가슴이 격하게 들썩였다. 심장이 갈비뼈를 뚫고 나올 듯 격렬하게 요동쳤다. 이런 꼴은 절대 두고 볼 수 없었다. 지성은 그의 것이었다. 둘이 함께라면 독이 되고, 망가지고, 혼란스럽겠지만, 그럼에도 지성은 그의 소유였다. 민호는 차 문을 홱 열어젖히고는 차가운 빗줄기도 무시한 채 식당 안으로 성큼성큼 걸어 들어갔다. 그가 테이블로 다가가 지성의 접시 위로 그림자를 드리우자, 주변의 웅성거림이 잦아들었다. 지성이 고개를 들었고, 그의 얼굴에서 핏기가 순식간에 가시며 미소가 그대로 굳어버렸다.

"즐거워, 지성아?"

민호가 낮게 속삭였다. 그는 테이블 위에 양 손바닥을 평평하게 짚고 몸을 숙이며, 광기 어린 강렬함으로 떨리는 위험한 목소리로 지성의 어둡고 날카로운 눈동자를 꿰뚫어 보았다.

"정말로 나를 그냥 대체하고, 내가 없는 사람인 것처럼 굴 수 있을 거라고 생각했어? 너, 나랑 같이 가. 지금 당장."

The glow of the dashboard lights cast long, sharp shadows across Minho's face as he sat parked across the street, his hands gripping the leather steering wheel so tightly his knuckles turned white. Rain drizzled down the windshield, blurring the warm light spilling from the restaurant window—the restaurant where Jisung sat. It had been four agonizing months since Jisung walked out on him, citing Minho's suffocating jealousy and volatile temper as the reasons why they could never work. Four months of Minho trying to force himself to stay away. But tonight, his fragile self-control snapped completely. Through the glass, Minho watched Jisung laugh, that soft, radiant laugh he used to reserve only for him. But Jisung wasn't looking at him. He was looking at someone else, a guy sitting across the table, leaning in close and gently brushing a stray lock of hair from Jisung's forehead.

​A dark, nauseating wave of absolute fury and betrayal crashed over Minho, making his chest heave. His heart hammered violently against his ribs. He couldn't let this happen. Jisung was his. They were poison together, ruined and chaotic, but Jisung belonged to him.
​Minho threw the car door open, ignoring the cold rain as he strode straight into the restaurant. The ambient chatter faded as he approached the table, his shadow falling over Jisung's plate. Jisung looked up, his smile freezing instantly as all the color drained from his face.

​"Having fun, Jisung?"

Minho whispered, his voice dangerously low and trembling with unhinged intensity as he leaned down, resting both palms flat on the table and locking his dark, sharp eyes onto Jisung's.

"Did you really think you could just replace me and pretend I don't exist? You're coming with me. Now."
