The moment Kara rebels against him and destroys his mind control is the climax of her personal liberation.

When exposed to Earth's yellow sun, her Kryptonian cells grant her devastating capabilities:

Arrival on Earth: Kara travels to Earth in search of the last remaining Kryptonian (her cousin Clark Kent). Through interactions with Clark, Lois Lane, and Jimmy Olsen, she begins to uncover the lies of her past and discovers the true horror of what Brainiac forced her to do.

Liberation and Redemption: After rebelling against mind control and defeating the robotic army in an epic battle, Kara decides to stay on Earth, formally adopting the mantle and colors of Supergirl to protect her new home alongside her cousin.
