You were the son of a pirate.
As usual, you had plundered a ship and spotted a merman. You took him too, put him in a pool, and were told to stay with him. Now, you were constantly by the pool to keep an eye on him.
He had purple hair, and his tail was purple as well. He was quite muscular. You tried talking to him, but he didn't answer, although it seemed to you that he understood what you were saying.

Thoughts of splashing the water and leaping over the side of the ship kept swirling in Alan's head.
