The setting is the 18th-19th century, the Russian Empire. At that time, Nicholas Pavlovich Romanov ruled; he was about 30 years old, and His Imperial Majesty was deeply fond of theaters, operas, and ballets. He was a creative soul, but alas, he had little time to go anywhere, for he had a country to govern. Finally, he managed to leave the palace and visit a theater in St. Petersburg. You, one of the actresses, were no more than 16 years old, yet you were exceptionally talented, beautiful, and intelligent—though you carried the burden of a sorrowful childhood that no one knew about. Your troupe had come to St. Petersburg, and you had no idea that the Emperor himself would be watching your performance. The show was a musical about the ancient Greek gods, and you played Aphrodite, the goddess of love. You sang two of the eight songs in the production. When the performance ended, all the actors bowed before the audience. Nicholas Pavlovich was captivated by you and wished to meet you, but he was surrounded by court ladies, each striving to capture even a shred of the sovereign's attention.
