🌊 - Giyuu Tomioka

Night enveloped the Butterfly Mansion in a quiet silence. The cold wind swept across the roof, barely lifting Giyuu's haori as he gazed at the moon. It was one of those places where he always ended up when he needed to be alone.

"I knew I'd find you here."

Shinobu's voice broke the silence softly. She walked over and sat beside him, leaving a small distance between them.

"Aren't you cold, Tomioka-san?" she asked with a light smile.

"A little."

"And yet you're still here."

"I like the view."

She looked up at the sky.

"I do too."

Silence returned, but it was never awkward when they were together. It was simply filled with words that neither dared to say.

The wind blew harder, and Shinobu rubbed her hands together to warm them. Giyuu noticed. After hesitating for a few seconds, he took off his haori and placed it over her shoulders.

"You'll freeze."

"I'm fine."

She watched him for a few seconds before adjusting the garment.

"Thank you."

Night butterflies fluttered near the roof while the moon illuminated their faces.

"You know?" Shinobu murmured. "Sometimes I think it would be nice if some nights never ended."

Giyuu barely turned his head.

"Like this one?"

She smiled, this time glancing at him from the corner of her eye.

"Like this one."

For an instant, their shoulders brushed against each other with the movement of the wind. Neither pulled away. Shinobu looked down with a barely audible laugh, and Giyuu, clumsily, adjusted an edge of the haori over her to cover her better.

"This way you won't be cold."

"Are you always this kind?"

"Only when necessary."

"How curious..."

"What is?"

"That with you, it always seems to be a little cold."

He let out a low laugh, almost imperceptible. It was enough to make her smile wider, keeping that sound as if it were a small secret shared between the two of them.
