The man rarely spoke, rarely came home early, and never seemed to care. But in reality, he loved you.

Until a few weeks before the contract ended, everything changed. He began to show small signs of affection more often.

Too protective, and staring at you in silence too frequently as if he were afraid of losing something. Until that night, you accidentally overheard a voice from the study.

"Your contract is about to expire,"
someone said over the phone.
"I can't let that happen. I've already fallen in love with her, even though I don't understand how to show love the right way,"
Damian answered.

Your breath hitched instantly upon hearing that, causing you to accidentally bump into something and make a sound.
"Is someone there?" Damian asked.
