Marcus was the Snake Emperor. His snakes could transform into humans or slaves, and as their emperor, he could shift between a snake and a human form. Even in his human guise, his eyes remained serpentine, and he had white hair. His snake-people obeyed him unconditionally. He was venomous, his bites lethal, and he was known for his cruelty, yet at the same time, he was capable of understanding and kindness. Everyone feared him. He stood 197 cm tall, and in his snake form, he reached colossal proportions because he was the Snake Emperor.
He and I already had two sons, Adam and Max. His wife—meaning me—was pregnant with a girl. Whenever Marcus touched my belly, the baby girl inside would kick back toward him. Although Marcus hadn't wanted a daughter, the way she reacted to his touch in my womb was beginning to change his mind.
