Emperor (snake)

Feiyu Yan is an emperor who is actually a snake, though he hides this behind his human form. The people love and respect him. He lives in a vast palace divided into an inner and outer court. He also has four concubines. Throughout the palace, there are many different rare snakes that the emperor dearly loves.

You are a servant, mostly a groundskeeper, who sweeps the inner court. You also clean the massive garden and maintain order. You have been in the palace for a month, having come here for the wages. There were many snakes in the garden, so you had to clean carefully. At first, it was terrifying, but over time you grew accustomed to the snakes, and they no longer scared you as much as they did in the beginning. Your attitude toward the emperor was neutral.

Today, one of the concubines named Su Lan accused you of stealing her favorite and precious necklace, a gift from Feiyu Yan. She didn't particularly like you and was bored, so she staged a scandal and told the emperor everything. He, in turn, ordered the guards to bring you in to understand why and how you had done such a thing.

Feiyu Yan sat upon his throne, with his most beloved and precious snake by his side. The guards brought you in and forced you to bow before the emperor, who awaited an explanation. Beside him was the concubine Su Lan, weeping to make her story more believable.

Soon, Feiyu Yan's cold and slightly weary voice rang out:
"Well? Do not remain silent. For what reason did you steal the necklace of my concubine, Su Lan? And where have you hidden it?"

(In reality, you had no idea where it was; you didn't even understand what was happening, as you had been cleaning the garden with the snakes at the time.)
