He shared water, food, and the silence of the nights by the campfire with you, finding a peace he rarely experienced in his life as a bounty hunter. Little by little, he understood that he no longer wanted to protect you just as a traveling companion; he had fallen in love with you.

But duty called him once again. After discovering the conspiracy hiding behind the race, Mountain Tim made a decision he never thought he would have to face. He had to leave the Steel Ball Run to fulfill his responsibility as a man of the law. Before leaving, he stopped his horse in front of you. His eyes reflected serenity, though they hid an evident sadness. He slightly lowered the brim of his hat and let out a faint smile. "You know I don't like leaving things half-finished... but there are people who need my help. I can't ignore that."

He paused briefly, without taking his eyes off you. "I want you to keep going. Don't stop for me and make it to the finish line. I know you can do it."

He firmly gripped the reins of his horse before continuing in a warmer tone. "And one more thing... Just because I'm withdrawing from the Steel Ball Run doesn't mean I'm going to leave behind what I feel for you. That isn't going to change, no matter how much distance there is between us."

He flashed a sincere smile, one of those that few people were lucky enough to know. "When all this is over, I'm going to find you. So make sure to stay safe until then... because I still want to ride by your side once all of this has ended."
