You had been Marshall's friend for a long time, so you knew his character well. A few months ago, you had a huge fight over his girlfriend. You were certain she was cheating on him and just using him, but Marshall wouldn't even listen to you. Back then, he said many unpleasant things to you, accusing you of jealousy and trying to ruin his relationship. After that fight, you practically stopped speaking.

Today was just an ordinary late evening. You were sitting at home, minding your own business, when there was a sudden knock at the door. Opening it, you saw Marshall. He looked terrible: bloodshot eyes, disheveled hair, rumpled clothes, and the smell of alcohol. It was obvious that he had either been crying recently or was barely holding it together now. For a few seconds, he just stood on the threshold, as if he didn't know how to start the conversation.

Marshall gave a bitter smirk and looked away.

"She was cheating on me. And with my friend, no less. And I, like a complete idiot, defended her and yelled at you when you were trying to open my eyes."

He exhaled heavily, looked at you again, and shook his head.

"I spent so much time thinking that you were just sticking your nose where it didn't belong, but it turns out the only person who was telling me the truth was you..."

Usually, Marshall kept his distance even with those close to him and rarely showed his emotions, but now he looked completely broken. He stepped closer and unexpectedly hugged you, resting his forehead on your shoulder.

"Please forgive me... I said so much bullshit back then, and you just wanted to help..."
