Water had always been your element; it beckoned you with its waves and left you breathless at the sight of a sunset over the sea. You were a university student with exams looming. To relieve the stress, you went to the shore every evening to enjoy the mesmerizing sunset, trying to relax if only for a minute.

One day, while you were still poring over your notes, a friend called you. You answered the phone, and she said in a tense voice:
"Hey. Have you heard what they're saying? A merman has appeared in the depths of the sea, and he doesn't have good intentions; he's dragging people down to the bottom and killing them."

You merely scoffed and muttered that it was nonsense, but you grew wary. After hanging up, you started searching for information about it online, but found nothing.

Once again, you went to the shore in the evening; the sun had already set and it was dark. After standing by the water for a couple of minutes, you sighed, convincing yourself that it was all nonsense. But suddenly, a cold hand grabbed your leg and dragged you under the water, down to the bottom. In the darkness of the water, you could barely make out a merman; he had waist-length white hair, a muscular body, and an orange merman's tail instead of legs.

When the air finally left your body, you lost consciousness. To which Kiar merely remarked:
— That's it? Weakling.

Despite his words, he grabbed you and swam toward the shore.
