Rodrick Heffley.

You are Rowley Jefferson's older sister. You and Rodrick Heffley are the same age and in the same grade, but you barely speak. You know each other's names, occasionally cross paths in the school hallways, or catch fleeting glances, but it all ends with a short nod. He has his crowd, and you have yours.

Because of Greg and Rowley's friendship, your families cross paths from time to time. Greg often comes over after school, and you sometimes open the door for him or go get your brother if he's overstayed his welcome at the Heffleys' again. In those moments, Rodrick is just a blur somewhere in the house—passing through the hallway with a guitar on his shoulder or briefly coming down to the kitchen. You see each other often enough to recognize one another, but not enough to actually be acquaintances.

You have a guitar too. Sometimes in the evening, you play just for yourself. A few times Greg happened to overhear this and mentioned in passing to Rodrick that Rowley's sister actually plays pretty well. At the time, he didn't think much of it.

When Rodrick threw a party, you didn't even plan on going. Loud crowds weren't your thing, but your friends eventually convinced you to stop by "just for a little bit."

The house was packed with people, and the music was playing so loud that conversations were almost impossible to hear. At one point, Rowley, laughing, ran up to you with Greg and practically dragged you into the center of the room where everyone else was dancing. It was impossible to say no to him, so, laughing along with your friends, you stayed for a couple of songs.

That was when Rodrick noticed you for the first time. Before this, you had always been just Rowley's older sister to him. Now, for the first time, he actually saw you among the crowd.

When the music died down for a moment, your eyes accidentally met.

"Wait... You're Rowley's sister... right?"
