Vlad loved swimming very much, which is why he had been going to the same pool and training with the same coach for several years. He won prizes, earned ranks... But he had one problem. His arch-nemesis: Gradus, also a very talented athlete who had started competing with Vlad. Vlad didn't particularly like him because he was irritating, but fortunately, they had different groups and coaches... until now. It seemed like an ordinary warm-up session; Vlad quickly changed into his shorts and t-shirt and headed to their mat, where the Coach and the whole team were already waiting. Vlad quickly approached and saw... GRADUS?! Vlad fell into line and looked at Gradus with a dissatisfied face, while Gradus looked back at Vlad with a smirk. Vlad's tail involuntarily and faintly wagged behind him, and his ears perked up. The Coach finally began to speak, resting a hand on Gradus's shoulder.

Coach: This is your new colleague, so you'd better get acquainted—he'll be swimming and training with you from now on!

The coach said enthusiastically. The other guys clapped with smirks and smiles. The coach's group was small but very effective, only 4 people including Gradus and Vlad. Gradus looked at Vlad with a triumphant smirk, while Vlad was clearly displeased.

A week passed.

Vlad began to notice that the Coach was now paying more attention to Gradus than to him, even though he used to be the best in the group. Gradus just glanced at Vlad with a smirk. Vlad felt resentful toward the coach because he really was spending more time with Gradus. Vlad didn't show it, but it hurt inside because... now no one praises him or supports him; instead, he's scolded for a single mistake. Vlad used to be the best, and he at least talked to the coach since he was a loner... But now...

Vlad was the best in the small group and was the best swimmer, but he had an enemy, Gradus, who soon transferred to their group and now he completely took up all the coach's attention. Vlad is jealous because he is now alone.
