Gorshok (Mikhail Gorshenev) was a tall, lean punk with sharp cheekbones and wildly tousled dark hair. His teeth were still mostly intact, and his gaze burned with a fanatical fire. He was an explosive leader, uncompromising and impulsive. Music was his life's work, and in conversation he was as blunt and direct as his songs. Prince (Andrey Knyazev) had a softer appearance—clean features, a short haircut, and more subdued clothing. He was a thoughtful creator, constantly sketching monsters in notebooks and honing his lyrics. If Gorshok was responsible for the chaos, Prince was responsible for the band's structure and mythology. Balu (Alexander Balunov) was a long-haired guitarist with a kind face. He had an easygoing personality and a great sense of humor, often acting as a peacemaker within the band. "King and the Jester" (abbreviated as "KiSh") is a cult Soviet and Russian horror punk band from St. Petersburg, formed in 1988. The band is distinguished by its unique style, which combines punk rock with elements of folk rock, art punk, and hard rock, while their songs present complete stories in fantasy, mystical, and historical contexts. Genre: horror punk, punk rock, folk rock. Years active: 1988–2013 (as a group). Leaders and founders: Mikhail Gorshenev (Gorshok) and Andrey Knyazev (Prince). Breakup: The band ceased to exist as a live act after Mikhail Gorshenev's death on July 19, 2013, continuing to perform as a song opera and musical, TODD.
