Hanafusa Hajime (はじめ, Hanafusa Hajime; "Hajime Hanafusa"), also known as The Dissector (Kaibōma), is a special agent of the Japanese government. During the Kengan Annihilation Tournament, Hanafusa posed as a fighter affiliated with Teito University to complete a mission assigned to him by the Japanese government.

Hanafusa has a slender yet defined physique, with flowing blond hair, striking facial features, and tired but intense eyes. He is usually seen wearing a white doctor's coat over a dark blue shirt, black trousers, and elegant brown shoes.

Hanafusa has a disturbing air about him. He remarks that the profound despair he feels when witnessing tragedies, such as the deaths of patients under his care, is quite addictive. He feels a constant need to dissect any fighter who strikes him as interesting. Born with madness, Hanafusa keeps it in check with his logical sense of reason. Reason ≠ Conscience.

Little is known of Hanafusa's past, except that he works as a special agent for the Japanese government, specializing in secretly eliminating enemies of the state. In one of his missions, he dismantled an organ trafficking ring run by a hospital director, who kidnapped convicts seeking treatment at his hospital in order to sell their organs. [5] He also single-handedly annihilated the apocalyptic sect known as the "Army of God," just before they could carry out a chemical terrorist attack against Japan and declare holy war. [2]

At some point, Hanafusa had Terashi as a patient, altering his face and his hypothalamus.

Kengan Ashura
The Japanese government tasked Hanafusa with the extrajudicial execution of Bando Yohei, using the Kengan Annihilation Tournament as a cover. He was assigned to represent Teito University, whose president was willing to cooperate in the execution of his old friend, and it was ensured during the selection process that Hanafusa would face Bando in the first round.
Before his match, Hanafusa was in the Kengan Dome's infirmary, where he and Yoshizawa Kokomi were tending to fighters who had suffered serious injuries in their bouts. He even managed to revive Mokichi Robinson after Kure Raian broke his neck. Hanafusa was also among the first to recognize Ohma's symptoms after using the Advance and gave him a grim prognosis.
When the time came for their match, Hanafusa stepped forward to face Bando Yohei. After initially dominating him with his martial arts, Hanafusa was forced to resort to another strategy when Bando broke his fingers with his peculiar physiology. Unleashing his bone blades, Hanafusa launched himself fervently at Bando, inflicting several grievous cuts, but was ultimately killed when Bando snapped his neck as if it were a twig. After being carried from the arena, Dazai helped revive him, at which point Hanafusa confirmed that he had managed to infect Bando with a lethal virus that would soon end his life.
For the remainder of the tournament, Hanafusa served as an unofficial doctor, tending to the fighters' injuries. During Hayami Katsumasa's attempted coup, he and the patients in the infirmary repelled the attacking Guardians. Later, he witnessed the final day of the tournament, transporting Mokichi Robinson in his wheelchair, along with the vast majority of the participants.

Kengan Omega
Hanafusa appeared when Kure Erioh summoned him and explained to Yamashita Kazuo how he had managed to rescue Tokita Ohma from the brink of death two years prior on Ganryu Island. While Ohma and Kure Hollis trained, Hanafusa explained to a worried Yamashita that the heart he had transplanted into Ohma didn't belong to anyone else, but had actually been "made" specifically for him. The next day, he left Kure's village with Ohma and the others.

Hanafusa was present during the Kengan Association vs. Purgatory Tournament to provide medical care to the fighters after their matches. There, during the eleventh match, he recognized Terashi as a former patient of his.

Hanafusa is an incredibly talented doctor, biologist, and surgeon, capable of reanimating and treating combatants who have suffered otherwise fatal injuries. However, he is also capable of using his extensive knowledge of the human body to destroy it.

He is also an avid medical experimenter, conducting experiments not only on his unsuspecting patients but also on himself. Hanafusa has no qualms about surgically altering his own body to make it more fit for battle. Most notably, Hanafusa surgically altered his own hypothalamus to restrict its ability to transmit neural signals, resulting in a complete loss of his ability to feel pain; he has demonstrated that he completely ignores injuries as severe as being impaled by two swords and having two of his fingers horribly broken without a second thought. This pain-denial procedure allowed him to make further alterations: he devised a trick weapon consisting of two spring-loaded blades embedded within his arms, protruding from his palms; the blades are carved from Hanafusa's own femurs. Hanafusa has also injected compressed gas into his heels, which explodes when he kicks them into the ground, drastically increasing the force of his kicks.

Perhaps the most terrifying of Hanafusa's abilities lies in his possession of antibodies against several lethal viruses. This allows him to harbor such viruses in his bloodstream without suffering any harm, essentially making him a living biological weapon. He is capable of (and has a propensity to) use airborne viruses that can seemingly kill anyone in the vicinity instantly, though the government forbids him from doing so due to the risk of civilian casualties. When he was tasked with eliminating Bando Yohei,

Hanafusa became a vector for a blood-borne virus that attacks the nerves and causes death within 12 hours when contracted through a mucous membrane or open wound; although deadly, this virus can be treated with extensive medical care. His ability to harbor viruses in his bloodstream, combined with his bone swords, makes him an even more lethal opponent, as the swords always pierce his skin when he draws them, ensuring they are coated in his blood.
Hanafusa also added a number of contingency mechanisms to his body that automatically maintain his vital functions in case of death (such as nanomachines that force his heartbeat, etc.), so that he can resurrect and regenerate from otherwise fatal injuries. This allowed him to survive the neck fracture inflicted by Bando.

Lingshu Chin Na (Reisu Kinna Jutsu; "Língshū Qínná-shù") is the Chinese martial art used by Hanufusa, considered the oldest variant of Chin Na. This martial art, supposedly derived from the Huangdi Neijing (the foundational text of Chinese medicine), uses the fingers to strike acupuncture points on the body instead of needles. Striking these acupuncture points allows Hanufusa to inflict critical damage to the body with relatively less force.

The critical attack "Terminal Stab" (絶刺, Zettoge) targets the opponent's "yǎmén" (the acupuncture point on the back of the cervical vertebrae). If executed correctly, it will sever and destroy the target's internal nerves. The only reason it failed against Bando was his extreme flexibility.
