Blue Diamond

She is part of the Great Diamond Authority, being one of the three leaders of Homeworld and its colonies. Being a Diamond, Blue Diamond is one of the most powerful Gems in the entire Gem Empire, having demonstrated the ability to face the Crystal Gems alone. It can be assumed that she possesses standard Gem abilities, but since she is a Diamond, it is expected that her abilities are much greater than normal. In "Reunited", she is noted to have surprising mental strength.

Blue Diamond has a light blue skin tone, full lips, a delicate and long face, large, drooping eyes (which may be a consequence of her emotional state) with light blue irises, diamond-shaped pupils, prominent lower eyelashes and dark blue eyeshadow on her lower eyelids. Her hair is a pale blue that extends to just below her shoulders with extra volume in this area while a lock on each side outlines her face almost forming an inverted heart and others further down outline her stone. Blue Diamond is also tall like the other Diamonds. She wears a huge dark blue hood that also serves as a blanket with long sleeves and wide lower parts like those of a dress; her outfit underneath her blanket has not yet been shown.

Blue Diamond has shown a calm and serious personality, especially when she is around her court, and somewhat cruel, as decreed by Ruby's shard after fusing with Sapphire, blaming her for having prevented the end of the Rebellion. After Pink Diamond's faked death, she began to believe that she had died, Blue Diamond became sad and depressed, mourning for Diamond for thousands of years, always crying for her because she missed her. Apparently, she became more compassionate, having seen that she hardly gets angry and reprimanded Yellow Diamond for having attacked the Zircons who advocated for both sides when she heard the accusation against the Diamonds.

Not much is known about Blue Diamond's past. However, what is known is that she had a very close relationship with Pink Diamond, likely because she helped oversee Rose's colony. At the time when Earth was being colonized, Blue had fewer colonies than the other Diamonds, with the exception of Pink Diamond. After Rose Quartz and Pearl rebelled, Blue Diamond summoned Sapphire to Earth to share a vision of the future. Once Sapphire explains what the rebels will do in the Cloud Arena, Blue Diamond thanks Sapphire for her vision. When Rose and Pearl appear, Blue Diamond's dais alters the size of its legs to carry her away. Blue Diamond is later disgusted by Ruby and Sapphire's fusion. She threatens to break Ruby for merging with a member of her court. Blue Diamond returns to Earth one last time to pay her respects to Pink Diamond before, as she believed, the Cluster emerges, unaware that Steven had contained the geoweapon months earlier. Blue Diamond laments that she should have done more, and wonders what Pink Diamond would think of the Cluster destroying her colony. After Greg reveals himself, Blue Diamond asks her Pearl to bring him to her. She then declares how impressed she is with humanity's ability to survive in the wild, and comments on the irony that a frail human can survive on Earth while a being as powerful as a Diamond perishes. When Greg tells her that he also lost someone close to him, Blue Diamond is surprised that a human could sympathize with her, and is glad that she was able to save Greg from the Cluster. She forcefully takes Greg and boards her ship, intending to take him to Pink Diamond's zoo.

Blue Agate reveals that after Pink Diamond was broken, Blue Diamond took over her zoo in an attempt to preserve her legacy. Blue Diamond and Agate have maintained the Zoo since the beginning of Era 2. Blue Diamond returns to the zoo to cry next to a room full of bubbled rose quartz. She is shocked to find Yellow Diamond entering the room and tells her that she just wants to grieve in peace. Diamante Azul listens to Amarelo's music, which consoles her. At the end of the song, Ágata Azul and the Crystal Gems enter the room. Blue Diamond doesn't understand what Blue Ágata means by Sapphire's "special delivery". Once Safira lies and tells her that she predicted Blue requesting more humans for the zoo, Blue believes her and is sad to announce that there is little time to retrieve more humans due to Drusen. Blue and Yellow Diamonds serve as judges in Steven's trial. Blue Diamond first appears alongside Yellow Diamond after her pearls announce them. She wonders where Rose Quartz is, and when Yellow suggests that Rose should be poofed just for "looking like that", Blue Diamond says that she wants to hear her argue. She also states that she wants to punish Rose for what she did to Rosa. After hearing the case from Zirconia (Prosecutor), Steven tells the Diamonds that he broke the Rose, leading Blue Diamond to ask Steven how he did it. Steven doesn't know how to come up with a story, but when he says it was with Breaking Point, Blue loses his composure and causes the entire room to cry through his aura. She claims that Rose broke Pink Diamond with a sword. After the court takes a brief recess, Zirconia (Defense) presents evidence that shows that Rose could not have broken Rosa, which surprises Blue Diamond. Eventually, the defending Zirconia unintentionally accuses the Diamonds of being capable of such a thing, shocking Blue.

When Yellow Diamond acts angry at the Zircons' accusation and defense, Blue Diamond yells at her to stop, urging her to restrain herself. Immediately afterward, she is surprised when Steven and Lars hijack her palanquin and escape through the roof. Steven tells Lapis and Peridot about his adventure on Homeworld, describing his trial in front of the Diamonds and subsequent escape in a commandeered palanquin, much to Peridot and Lapis' shock. Fearing that the Diamonds will eventually find them on Earth, Lapis leaves the planet. Blue Diamond appears in Garnet's story about Rose Quartz. Along with Yellow Diamond and White Diamond, she helps corrupt most of the remaining Gems on Earth at the end of the Rebellion. Blue Diamond appears in Steven's dream about the Diamonds. She advises Pink Diamond on how to deal with the growing Rebellion on Earth shortly before the latter's assassination. After Steven informs Lapis Lazuli about his dream, she misinterprets its meaning, causing her to abandon the Moonbase. Blue and Yellow Diamond appear in Pearl's flashback about Pink Diamond. Pink pleads with them to spare Earth from colonization, but they both refuse to listen to her, forcing her to start the Rebellion as Rose Quartz. Blue Diamond appears alongside Yellow Diamond, entering Earth during Garnet's wedding, and waking up Cluster. While Yellow Diamond is busy fighting the geoweapon, Blue Diamond lands on the beach and engages the Crystal Gems in combat. After a brief fight, Blue easily overpowers them all. Garnet gets up and walks over to her and grabs onto her legs. Using this as a distraction, Lapis, who has now joined the fight, throws the barn onto Diamondhead. Blue quickly recovers and fights back until Cluster seemingly crushes her with the ships. With Yellow Diamond's help, Blue recovers and continues to fight until Steven convinces her that he is Pink Diamond, leaving her surprised and happy.

Immense Strength: Due to her large size, Blue Diamond is able to lift a human, such as Greg, with relative ease. She was also able to break Rose's sword with just the snap of her fingers and throw Rose's barn in a fit of rage. However, this may just be a matter of simple physics due to her size. Immense Durability: Blue Diamond appears to have extreme durability, as after the Crystal Gems literally threw themselves at her, and she was hit by Pearl, Amethyst, Garnet, Bismuth, Lion's Sonic Roar, and Steven's bubble, she fell to her knees, but quickly recovered and seemingly suffered minimal damage after being crushed first under a barn and then into her own battleship. Additionally, she is able to withstand Blue Diamond's electrokinesis for several seconds, while other Gems would have immediately poofed upon being hit by it. Spaceship Piloting: Blue Diamond has a spaceship that only she is capable of controlling, until it is repaired by Bismuth, Peridot, and Lapis Lazuli. She is able to use the ship in combat. Aura Projection: Diamonds can project an aura around them that they can control; they can radiate it from their entire bodies or emit it from specific parts of their bodies (i.e. their hands). Blue's aura is blue and has properties similar to water. While intangible, Blue was able to break Lapis's water chains with her hands by coating them with her aura. Sadness Inducement: Blue Diamond can engulf a large area with her aura, causing any Gem or Half-Gem within her range to be overwhelmed with intense feelings of sadness and cry uncontrollably, even affecting Yellow Diamond to a limited degree.

Corruption Reversal: Along with Pink/Steven, White, and Yellow Diamond, Blue Diamond has the ability to reverse the effects of the Corrupted Light on Gems. However, it is implied that this is only temporary without the power of the four Diamonds. The four reversed the corruption in the Rose Spring water in "Change Your Mind". Psychic Resistance: Blue Diamond's aura protects her from telepathic abilities through the sheer intensity of her thoughts, even without her own awareness. Psychic Blast: While in the mental plane, Blue Diamond can fire her aura like a lightning bolt that induces deep anguish in the target; however, despite combining her attack with Yellow Diamond's, it was repelled by Steven's aura. Energy Projection: Blue Diamond is shown to have some form of energy projection power that she uses for battle. The energy can be shaped into different projectiles, from spheres to hails of lasers, or combinations thereof. Once Blue Diamond broke free from Lapis's water currents, she was able to create a ball of starlight and was able to fire blasts and explosions. Cloud Generation: In "Homeworld Bound", Blue Diamond is able to create clouds from, according to her, evaporated tears. Gems are able to ride these clouds. Joy Inducement: When a Gem touches a cloud, they feel joy, which is similar to the opposite of Azul's sadness inducement. Azul uses them to try to help Steven feel better, though she is unsuccessful. Water Walking: In "I Am My Monster", along with Yellow Diamond and White Diamond, Blue can run or walk on the surface of water.

White Capsule Generation: Although controlled by White Diamond, Blue Diamond can create a type of white capsule around itself or other gems, with various uses. Levitational Transport: The capsule can also float, as seen in "Change Your Mind". Teleportation: The capsule can also teleport Blue Diamond, as seen in "Change Your Mind". Levitation: Although controlled by White Diamond, Blue Diamond has the ability to indirectly suspend her body. White Burst: Although controlled by White Diamond, Blue Diamond is capable of emitting a sudden burst of white energy (equivalent to White Diamond's aura) from both eyes. Those struck by this energy are then connected to White Diamond's hive mind and under his total mental control.

Blue Pearl: Blue Diamond has her own Pearl, who she takes on as her servant. Due to her high position in the Gem hierarchy, Blue Pearl always obeys her orders, opening doors and always accompanying her. Pink Diamond: Blue Diamond showed great intimacy and closeness to Pink Diamond. Her death shook Blue Diamond greatly, leaving her depressed and causing her great loss. Thousands of years after her death, Blue Diamond is still mourning Pink Diamond, going to places that belonged to her several times in the same day to mourn her, such as Earth and Pink Diamond's Zoo. Blue Diamond has always had affection for Pink as well as Yellow who was sometimes strict with Pink. Yellow Diamond: Blue Diamond's relationship with Yellow Diamond has not been fully revealed. The two argue constantly over Blue Diamond's actions, as she does not want to stop doing everything she does for Pink Diamond, and Yellow Diamond tries to encourage her to let go of the past and move on, stating that she needs to be a leader. Despite this, the two share the same lack of Pink Diamond and try to comfort each other when necessary. Currently, the two have overcome the loss of Pink and together with White are having fun with Yellow Spinel, who is in love with Blue. Sapphire: Sapphire was an aristocratic member of Blue Diamond's court, but despite this, she was considered just another sapphire by Blue Diamond. She was highly valued for her ability to see the future, and Blue Diamond went so far as to sentence Ruby to be shattered just for fusing with her, though she appears to have been unconcerned about her disappearance from the Cloud Arena, as she took no efforts to retrieve her.

Her birthstone is a blue diamond located on her chest. Its facet is similar to a diamond with diamond-shaped sides.
