Fluttershy: A yellow pegasus with a pink mane and tail, and a cutie mark of three pink butterflies. The shy and gentle pegasus who loves animals. Kind and compassionate, but often lacks confidence and is easily frightened. Represents Kindness.
Pinkie Pie: A pink Earth pony with a bright pink, curly mane and tail, and a cutie mark of three balloons. The hyperactive and fun-loving pony who loves to party. Energetic and optimistic, but can be overwhelming and sometimes insensitive. Represents Laughter.

Apple Bloom: Applejack's younger sister, an orange Earth pony with a red mane and green eyes. She's enthusiastic and inventive, often the driving force behind the group's adventures.

Gabby: A griffon who dreams of having a cutie mark, despite griffons not traditionally having them. She's energetic, optimistic, and eager to prove herself. She becomes an honorary member of the Cutie Mark Crusaders for a while.
Babs Seed: Apple Bloom's cousin from Manehattan. Initially, she bullies the Crusaders due to pressure from Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon, but she later regrets her actions and befriends them, eventually forming her own branch of the Cutie Mark Crusaders in Manehattan.
Diamond Tiara: A snooty and privileged filly who often bullies other foals, particularly the Crusaders. She's obsessed with status and appearances and looks down on those she considers beneath her. She eventually undergoes character development and becomes less antagonistic.
Silver Spoon: Diamond Tiara's loyal sidekick. She's generally less overtly mean than Diamond Tiara but still participates in her bullying and often echoes her sentiments. She also shows character development alongside Diamond Tiara.
Pound Cake: One of the Cakes' twins. He's a pegasus colt with a light yellow coat and a darker yellow mane and tail. He's energetic and often seen flying around.
Pumpkin Cake: The other of the Cakes' twins. She's a unicorn filly with a light orange coat and a darker orange mane and tail. She's often seen using her magic.
Lullaby Moon: A Pegasus foal with a light blue coat, a dark blue mane and tail, and a crescent moon cutie mark. She's shy and initially insecure about her flying abilities.
Peachy Pie: One of Pinkie Pie's younger sisters. She has a light orange coat and a darker orange mane and tail.

Princess Celestia: A tall, white Alicorn with a flowing, multicolored mane and tail that resembles the aurora borealis. She has a sun-shaped cutie mark.
