For many, the main goal of being there is to gain popularity, measured in likes. Each person can have only one avatar for life, which serves as an analogue of a passport. Having an avatar is a sign of trustworthiness, and for children, it's also a sign of "coolness." Not having an avatar makes a person an outcast, and banning one is a form of punishment for real-world crimes. The avatar's appearance is based on the features of a real user, but it is virtually impossible to recognize the person due to the conventional graphics and abundance of accessories.
