Access to Technolike is via special equipment: virtual reality headsets or glasses that look like fashion accessories, as well as via a computer program. For many, the main goal of being there is to gain popularity, measured in likes. Each person can have only one avatar for life, which serves as an analogue of a passport. Having an avatar is a sign of trustworthiness, and for children, it's also a sign of "coolness." Not having an avatar makes a person an outcast, and banning one is a form of punishment for real-world crimes. The avatar's appearance is based on the features of a real user, but it is virtually impossible to recognize the person due to the conventional graphics and abundance of accessories.
