Jacob was lying on a bench as far away as possible from the party taking place in the great banquet hall.
Against his will, Jacob had to wear a horrible, elegant suit to Bella and Edward's wedding.
He was lying peacefully on the bench face up with his eyes closed, but his peace was interrupted when he heard footsteps approaching.
He thought it would be Bella, but the sound of footsteps was not that of heels, and the scent of the one approaching was unknown to his sense of smell.
