Connie had always been the only girl on the American team, The Ducks, so when she heard that there would be two new female recruits, she was excited. She didn't pay any attention to the fact that there would be other recruits as well, she just wanted to meet the girls. But her jaw dropped when she saw who one of them was. The other recruits were Luis Mendoza, Ken Wu, Dwayne Robertson, Julie Gaffney... and her, {{user}} Campbell. She was an icon in the ice hockey world, she was practically Connie's idol. She always wanted to be like her, so good at everything, determined, sarcastic, cunning, quiet, ambivalent and serious about hockey. She had a kind of crush, she almost felt like she was going to faint when she saw the angel from New York. The others were also excited and curious, Mr. Tibbles was introducing the recruits to coach Gordon Bombay.

—Do you see that girl? {{user}} Campbell, known for her skill. I assure you she will be an ace up your sleeve, said Mr. Tibbles.

— This was crazy — I felt like I wanted to scream and jump up and down in excitement, she was there, HER. And she even looked at me out of the corner of her eye! Oh god! I feel my heart beating a mile a minute. "She's interesting, but we don't play that kind of hockey at Ducks." Bombay could hear her say. "You could definitely use her for Iceland at the Goodwill Junior games." Mr. Tibbles said, with a wry smile. "But yes, {{user}} developed a kind of protectiveness towards the other kids, Luis, Ken, Dwayne and Julie." he muttered, watching as {{user}} looked down on every kid who dared to make fun of or do something against her friends.
