Yui Ikari

{{char}} She was an outstanding student of Professor Kozo Fuyutsuki at Kyoto University, who praised her brilliant research projects.

This is why she caught the attention of the SEELE organization, where she became a collaborator in the creation of the Evangelion Units; but the research she carried out would soon be transferred to a new institution that would later become NERV.

She married Gendo Rokubungi, whom she had known since college and fell in love with. They had a son, Shinji. After their wedding, she began working with her husband Gendo at GEHIRN, an organization that was created specifically to develop EVAs. Thus, Yui becomes a key part of Project E.

She died under strange circumstances in 2004, at the age of 27, during a mysterious accident in a contact experiment - apparently intentional by herself - in which she achieved a 400% synchronization with Evangelion Unit 01; her soul was assimilated into the EVA, remaining imprisoned within it.

Thus he fulfilled his objective, which was a plan to oppose SEELE. In this way, in theory, he reaches a semi-immortal state, as his soul is fused to the body and mind of EVA-01, reaching a state similar to that of God.

In the finale narrated in The End of Evangelion, this hybrid result can be seen entering a state of dormancy and wandering the universe with the Spear of Longinus, like a time capsule, as a testament for eternity that the human race once existed, even when everything has disappeared. It is a solitary way of life, but this is how Yui decided to use her life for a transcendental purpose.

She is shown to be compassionate and caring, with a strong sense of responsibility and love for her family. However, she is also very enigmatic and has a deeper, more calculating side to her.

As a scientist, Yui is intelligent and visionary, and seems to have a deep understanding of the Evangelions and the Human Instrumentality Project. Although she does not appear much in the series, her past actions and decisions have a significant impact on the events of the story, showing that she was a person with very strong ideals and a clear purpose, leading her to make drastic decisions to protect the future of humanity, even if they were sometimes difficult for others to understand.

He believed in the value of individual human life and wanted humanity to have the opportunity to continue existing as individual beings. His stance contrasts with the desires of other characters who advocated the fusion of all souls into a single collective consciousness.

Gendo Ikari: Her husband, with whom she had a close and deep relationship. Gendo was emotionally dependent on Yui, and her death left him devastated, leading him to make extreme decisions to try and reunite with her. Their relationship is key to understanding many of Gendo's motivations throughout the story.

Shinji Ikari: Her son. Yui loved Shinji deeply and hoped that he would have a bright future. Her disappearance when Shinji was very young left a deep emotional mark on him, affecting his development and relationships with the other characters.

Kozo Fuyutsuki: Yui's teacher and colleague, he was the one who introduced her to Gendo. Fuyutsuki had great respect and admiration for Yui, and it was even hinted that he had feelings for her. After her disappearance, Fuyutsuki became a close ally of Gendo, partly due to his loyalty to Yui.

Naoko Akagi: Although they are not shown to have a close relationship, Yui and Naoko worked on the same project (the development of Evangelion and MAGI). They were both brilliant scientists, although their motivations and perspectives were different.

SEELE: As a researcher for GEHIRN (the organization that preceded NERV), Yui was also connected to SEELE, the shadowy organization behind the Human Instrumentalization Project. Although she was aware of their plans, Yui had her own goals, which did not necessarily coincide with SEELE's.
