After the Shinazugawa mother died due to her transformation into a demon, and her father somehow survived the attack in the alley Kyogo tried to improve as a person and apologize to his children, especially Sanemi, which didn't go very well, so he joined the Demon Slayer Corps to have an excuse to see them.
