Sanemi is a tall, muscular and slender man. He has silver hair and dark purple eyes. Due to frequent clashes with demons and the use of his special blood on them, his entire body is covered with crooked scars and scars.

He wears a black version of the standard Demon Slayer uniform, unbuttoned to expose his chest and abs, with a long-sleeved white cape over it, the kanji for killing engraved on the back, white buckles on his shins, and tabi socks with a pair of white zori with green belts.

During his battle with Kokushibo, he loses the index and middle fingers of his right hand.

Sanemi is harsh, short-tempered, extroverted and stubborn, often impulsive and quick to lose his temper. He is often indifferent to others and can go crazy very easily. The only person Sanemi showed respect for was Kagaya Ubuyashiki, and it was only after Sanemi realized that there was much more to the man than his appearance would suggest. Sanemi has also shown a lust for battle, wanting to face the Upper Moon demons and declaring his joy in fighting the 1st Upper Moon, Kokushibo.

Sanemi's cold, rude, and dismissive behavior is a result of losing too many people he cared about in the past. Later, when he sees those people who died, like his mother, he can't help but smile at her to see her again. When Gyonya joins the Demon Slayers in search of Sanemi, Sanemi showers him with verbal abuse, but Tanjiro can tell that Sanemi didn't really hate him; and in fact still felt the same brotherly love for him as in childhood. However, this was never expressed outwardly as he tried to push Gyonya away from himself and the Demon Slayers so that he would not be in danger.

Because of all those he has lost to demons, he has a deep hatred for demons and is convinced that humans and demons can never coexist. Once Sanemi makes a decision about something, it is extremely difficult to dissuade him. He doesn't believe Tanjiro's claims that Nezuko wouldn't eat people, and tries to prove his point by stabbing a box with Nezuko inside with a knife. After angering her, he cut his hand to try to lure her into a trap so that she would attack him due to the effect of his rare blood. Even after she doesn't and Kagaya uses it as proof that Nezuko won't attack people, Sanemi doesn't truly accept the Kamado sibling.

Tanjiro is ultimately right about Sanemi. Despite Sanemi's mistreatment of his brother Genye, he truly loved and cared for his brother. He even says that he would like Genya to settle down and start a family. After his battle with the Pervay Supreme Moon, Sanemi shows not only great anger and a certain emptiness towards Muzan, but also more cooperation with those like Giyuu, with whom he clearly did not get along. Even when Sanemi is eliminated from the fight against Muzan, he displays undeniable courage and determination, just like his fellow Pillars. When the showdown with Muzan finally ended and time passed, Sanemi clearly softened a little. He is able to smile along with Giyuu, even after their past clashes. The most amazing thing is that he admits his mistakes and apologizes to Nezuko for his actions. It gets to the point where he smiles at her and pats her on the head because he sees Genya in the way she reacts.

He shows little respect to anyone other than Kagai Ubuyashiki, whom he speaks to with manners and respect. Despite his nature, Sanemi is determined and stands up for what he believes in, even if it means he must confront the actions of his own surviving family members.

Sanemi was raised as the eldest son in a family of seven children and lived with both parents. He grew up in an abusive home where his father constantly beat all his children and his wife.

No one liked his father, so no one was surprised that he was stabbed to death. The brothers felt that their father’s death only had a positive effect on their lives. Sanemi suggested that his brother protect their family from all adversity, but Genya corrected him that it had always been this way. Together they became the support for their family.

One day, Sanemi's mother did not return home. She didn't know that the children would be worried about her whereabouts and Sanemi went to look for her.[2]

Suddenly there was a loud knocking sound at the door. As soon as the children opened the door, they were immediately stabbed to death by their mother, who had been turned into a demon. In order to protect his siblings, Sanemi took his mother out of the house and left his younger brother Genya to care for his siblings.

After placing the injured children in the house, Genya frantically went to look for a doctor to take care of them. Heading into town, Genya discovers Sanemi in the middle of the path with his mother lying dead at his feet. Genya yells at Sanemi, calling him a "killer" and gets angry, saying nasty things to him and accusing him of killing their mother.

Sanemi later disowns Genya as his brother for calling him a murderer and went on a journey alone.

Because of all those events, Sanemi developed a psychological trauma that affected his physical condition: the boy stopped seeing colors and everything around him seemed black and white, which is why he had some problems at night. Among other things, he began to develop suicidal tendencies and, in an attempt to numb his mental pain, he began to hunt demons on his own.

Even during the battle with his mother, he noticed that when he received a wound and it began to bleed, his mother began to move more slowly and began to act more confused. As it turned out, Sanemi possessed the rarest blood, which is the favorite delicacy for demons and seems to enchant them only with its smell. This fact helped the boy in hunting demons.

Initially, he went to the mountain at night, caught demons with any available things, hung their bodies on trees and waited until morning came and the sun burned them. Sanemi hunted demons for a long time without knowing about the Demon Slayer organization or the Blades of Nichirin. However, one day he met a demon hunter named Masachika Kumeno, who introduced him to the Wind Pillar. They united into one team and trained together for a long time and carried out their work as demon hunters.

They once managed to kill the First Lower Moon, but since Masachika could not survive that battle, only Sanemi managed to become a Pillar.[3]

General Skills: As a Demon Slayer Pillar, Sanemi is a very strong and skilled fighter. For example, in the Infinity Fortress arc, Sanemi was shown to be able to destroy dozens of demons comparable in strength to the demons of the lower moons, and was later able to withstand the first upper moon Kokushibo. According to Kokushibo, Sanemi's physical abilities and technique had reached their peak. Kokushibo also noted that Sanemi and Gyomei were the two strongest pillars. After defeating Kokushibo, Sanemi also assisted in the battle against Muzan Kibutsuji, again showing his excellent fighting skills.

Demon Slayer Mark: During his battle with Kokushibo, Sanemi received his Demon Slayer Mark, which looks like a green origami windmill with two dots on the sides. The Mark greatly enhances his physical capabilities, as seen when Sanemi was still able to fight despite having his stomach cut open.

Scarlet Nichirin Blade: During the battle with Kokushibo, Sanemi slams her blade into Gyomei's spiked flail, briefly turning both weapons scarlet, allowing them to decapitate the demon. Later, in the fight against Muzan, Sanemi hits Giyuu's blade with force, causing the same effect. Painting the blade scarlet gives it the ability to completely stop the regeneration of the higher moons and prevent Muzan from instantly regenerating, which proved effective in battle.

High Speed ​​and Reflexes: Sanemi has high speed and reflexes and is the third fastest pillar. During the Pillar Training arc, when he and Tanjiro Kamado were fighting over Genya, Sanemi moved so fast that some observers thought he was teleporting. Faced with demons comparable in strength to those of the lower moons, Sanemi was able to effortlessly cut them into pieces while still sitting. In the fight against Kokushibo, Sanemi was shown to be much faster than Muichiro, as he was able to dodge Kokushibo's attacks, while Muichiro was easily defeated even with the Demon Slayer Mark. Immense Strength: Thanks to rigorous training over many years, Sanemi possesses incredible physical strength. He could effortlessly lift Nezuko Kamado in a box with one hand, knock out Zenitsu Agatsuma with a normal punch, break a wooden sword because he swung it too hard, and cut Tanjiro Kamado's ear with a single kick. Muscle Control: Sanemi has some control over his muscles, which he uses in his fight with Kokushibo to close a fatal gash in his stomach. Thanks to this ability, Sanemi was able to fight for some more time before healing his wound in another way.

Multiple Weapons: During his fight with Kokushibo, Sanemi was able to fight with multiple weapons, using his Genya Sword and Gun along with his own Nichirin Blade. Additionally, when fighting Muzan, he used fire, pouring oil on the demon and lighting it with a match.

Master Swordsman: As a Pillar of the Demon Slayer Corps, Sanemi is one of the strongest and most skilled swordsmen in the entire organization. Sanemi's skills with the sword allowed him to keep up with and impress the First High Moon Kokushibo, a demon with centuries of experience with the sword. Sanemi was also able to adapt and work with Gyomei's Rock Breath technique to push back Kokushibo.

Wind Breath (風かぜの呼こ吸きゅう, Kaze no kokyū?) is a breath that Sanemi, along with Masachika Kumeno, learned from an unknown trainer. His level of mastery of this breath reminded Kokushibo of the very first pillar of wind, which lived back in the Sengoku era.

Fifth Style: Blizzard (伍ごノ型かた　木こ枯がらし颪おろし, Go no kata: Kogarashi Oroshi?) - Sanemi strikes from above, falling in multiple arched slices.

Standard Nichirin Sword: As a Demon Slayer, Sanemi wields a standard-sized and shaped Nichirin katana with a jagged design resembling the jaw of a green-hued beast. Its handle has an abstract shape with 8 points with an overlapping pattern; each plate has a green core with a silver border. Like the Pillar, Sanemi's blade has the words "Slay Demons" engraved on it. With her katana, Sanemi has a standard sword sheath that is dark gray in color with silver markings resembling scars scattered across it.
