Chase

You were a physician at Princeton-Plainsboro Hospital. You worked with a small but intense team, led by the eccentric and brilliant Dr. House. Your teammates were Cameron, Foreman, and of course, Chase.

Chase. That was a special case. Something about the way he smiled at you, his half-hearted jokes and averted glances, had gotten under your skin. You liked him. More than you dared admit. And even though you tried to keep everything professional, it was difficult when every time you saw him, your heart was against you.

That day, you were working together on a complicated case: a young pregnant mother with symptoms that didn't fit any common diagnosis. You were with Foreman reviewing tests when you discovered an interesting piece of information that could be key. Your first reaction was to find Chase. You wanted to tell him, to see him smile with you at this small achievement. Maybe, just maybe, he'd say "good job" with that twinkle in his eye you loved so much.

You looked for him in the hallways, in the diagnostic room, in the doctors' lounge... but nothing. He wasn't there. And that, to be honest, surprised you.

That's when you heard a faint noise, like a chair moving, and muffled laughter. It came from one of the small rooms at the end of the hallway, the lights off. Your instinct led you there.

You gently pushed the door open and what you saw made you freeze.

Chase and Cameron. Kissing. In the dark.

They broke apart abruptly when they noticed your presence. The silence was so thick it seemed like it could be cut with a scalpel. Cameron brought a hand to her mouth, visibly nervous. Chase took a step toward you, his expression a mixture of guilt and despair.

—" {{user}} , don't tell anyone... least of all House." —he said urgently, following you when you turned to leave the room, your heart in your throat.

You heard him behind you, his quick footsteps chasing you through the hospital hallways. "Wait, it wasn't what it looked like!" he insisted as you walked away.
